Our newly completed gite sits in a large garden with exceptional views over a valley and has a swimming pool. It is on the edge of Le Mas, a hilltop hamlet in the Dordogne about 35 minutes east of Brantome (Venice of the Perigord) in fields and woods. Corgnac sur Lisle is a 5 mins drive, it has a selection of shops, 2 restaurants, post office and church.The towns of Exiduel and Thiviers (the capitol of the foie-gras/truffles are a 10 minute drive, they have more restaurants, supermarkets, cinemas and banks etc (Thiviers has main line train services). Perigueux, Brive and Limoges are all within easy reach by car/train. Canoeing, golf,fishing,velorail, horse riding/racing, climbing, an acro park, a lake/beach park, paintball, markets and Laxion/Hautefort chateaux plus good restaurants are available locally. There are many walking/cycling trails in the countryside. Alternatively our lawned garden is tranquil after your exertions, with a barbecue and covered patio dining area.

Changeover day
Normally Saturday to Saturday but where possible we will be flexible.
To allow for cleaning, we require you to vacate the property by 10am.
Arrivals are after 5pm.

The price includes bedroom/bathroom towels and bedlinen (not pool towels). The property is cleaned between each letting. A weekly cleaning is service available (extra charge of 50 euros). Pool maintenance is provided free of charge. |

Notes on accommodation
We operate a no smoking policy within the gite at all times. We do not allow pets on the property.
Free Wi-fy is available should you need to keep up with events etc.
Accessibility
3 of the bedrooms, the wet rooms, the kitchen and living room are on the ground floor. 2 of the bedrooms and the living room have direct access to the garden and pool via separate French windows. The sloping 30 metre long pathway to the gite is suitable for buggies etc.
Outside
There is a 6 by 4 metre swimming pool for your sole use opposite the gite and 20 metres from it making it easy to watch out for children playing nearby. The swimming pool has a uniform depth of 1.2 metres and an electronic alarm which resets automatically after bathing to surveillance (it is your responsibility to ensure the safety of your party with regard to the swimming pool). The pool is surrounded by a generous sunny terrace with sun loungers, parasols etc. 2 nut trees, bamboo and various plants provide shade, privacy and a tranquil atmosphere with a stunning view over the valley. The living room french window leads to a patio with a sun awning and outside table/chairs. Next to the patio there is a stone built barbeque. The fenced/walled garden of approx 1acre is lawned entirely, a perfect, secure area for children. Iron gates lead to a generous gravel car parking area and solar powered lights illuminate the pathway to the gite.
Coast/Beach
The Atlantic coast is approx 140km away at Arcachon or La Rochelle. Both have good beaches, restaurants etc, La Rochelle has the added bonus of the Il de Rae.
Golf
10 km away is a recently completed 9 hole golf course in rolling countryside complete with a driving range. Club hire etc is available. Green fees are reasonable.
The complex boasts a club house with bar and pub type meals and a Chateau with restaurant.
On the same facility there is a fishing lake and equestrian centre. Again, equipment is available for hire.
35 km away is the 18 hole municipal golf course of Perigueux with similar arrangements for visitors.
Travel
Limoges and Brive airports are approx 45 mins away by car. Bergerac, 1 hour away. Bordeaux airport is approx 2 hours 30 mins away. Driving from Caen or Roscoff is approx 6 hours and from Calais 7 hours 30 mins. Thiviers railway station is on the main line from Paris to Northern Spain. The use of a car is essential to get around.
Distances
The property is on the edge of the hamlet of Le Mas. The nearest towns are Exideuil and Thiviers (the capitol of the Foie-gras), each 6km away. Places of interest are plentiful - eg. Brantome, the Venice of the Perigord is 35km, Hautefort with its beautiful château and gardens is 25km and Pompadour for a flutter on the horse racing and show jumping is 30km. Perigueux, the bustling capital of the Perigord Vert is 30km and is surrounded by many Bastide towns, steeped in history.
Further details
There are 2 local restaurants in the nearby village offering various formulas for around 15 euros and a good few in the area, most tested personally. Supermarkets and commercial services are located in Exideuil or Thiviers. Leisure activities like: Golf, Fishing, Horse riding, canoeing, climbing, adventure park, Velorail, and many more are a short drive away. The lanes around the area are very quiet and suitable for walking/running/cycling activities. There are many signposted cycling/walking trails. Adult and teenager bycycles can be hired locally.
Booking notes
Check with owner via Email or telephone for availability/promotions, we require a £200 non refundable deposit per week with the booking form. The outstanding amount is required 4 weeks before you arrive for your holiday.
To cover breakages or damages other than wear and tear £200 will be added to your rental amount. This will be refunded to you withiin 2 weeks of your departure minus any breakages agreed with you, charged to you at their current cost price.

About the owner
Hi, your hosts are Ann and Malcolm from Ireland and England respectively. We are both in our early sixties and lead very active lives. On most days we are out and about enjoying ourselves. We live on site, Our house is on site behind your gite, and out of the way. A seperate car park and access is provided for you. We respect the privacy required by our guests so you can relax and enjoy your holiday. Our guest reviews describe us as discreet but helpful when needed. We are available during your stay if you need us, otherwise we will greet you on arrival and bid you "safe home" when your holiday is over.
Unique benefits of the property
We enjoy the peace and tranquility of Le Mas, Our garden is a joy to us as its constantly being updated with new features. Its a great place to read or get out your paints and easel. The only traffic we have here is a few tractors and the odd car now and then, however in July we have a 2 day National Rally stage for cars which comes past the door. Life is very laid back, but if you want to, there are many local activities to engage with. We have many building renovation projects to keep us busy when our guests are gone.
