'La Grange' is a 17th century timber framed property, sleeping 10, that has recently been refurbished and furnished to a high standard whilst retaining much of its old world charm. Situated on the outskirts of the town of Le Mesnil Thebault, it has a secluded garden of 1/3 of an acre with it's own private swimming pool (open June, July, August). The smaller property 'Le Chatel' is truly charming, sleeping up to 4 and is situated in private gardens of approximately an acre.

Notes on prices
A refundable £150 security deposit is also required.

La Grange - The rental price includes wood for the wood burner (September - April), water and a 50€ electric allowance, sufficient for normal use. The cost of any excess electricity usage would be deducted from the deposit.

Le Chatel - The rental price includes wood for the woodburner (September to April), water and bottled gas for the cooker. A deduction will be made from the security deposit to cover the cost of electricity used.

Changeover day
Changeover day for July and August is Saturday. Arrival from 4pm, departure by 10am.

Alternative changeovers may be available for other months ask if needed.

Accommodation

 

 

Notes on accommodation
CLEANING/TOWELS/LINEN: Towels are not provided. Bed linen can be provided at an additional cost £10 for a double and £7 for each single. The property should be cleaned before leaving. You can do this yourself or we can arrange this for you at a cost of £40.

 

Accessibility
La Grange has not been specifically adapted for wheelchair users or those with mobility problems. However there is a double bed settee available for use in the downstairs lounge, the ground floor is all on one level and there is a ground floor bathroom.

Le Chatel is not suitable for those with mobility problems and due to the nature of the mezzanine bedroom we would not recommend it's use for those with small children;

Outside
La Grange has a private enclosed garden and barbecue area with adequate seating for all, 1/3 acre in total. An 18 foot, child secure, private pool is available for use between the start of June and the end of August.

Le Chatel has private gardens of just over an acre with a barbecue/patio area but no pool.

Coast/Beach
Normandy is of course famed for the D Day landing beaches and these are easily accessible. They form only a small part of the numerous spacious sandy beaches that dominate the coast. Some are reserved for swimming, others for watersports. The nearest sandy bathing beach is 25 minutes by car. You may even be fortunate enough to witness the local pod of dolphins hunting fish as close as 50 metres from the shore, a truly amazing sight.

Golf
Normandy, with it's 37 golf courses, was nominated as one of the top golfing destinations in the world in 2001. You can see the sea from a dozen courses, others are hidden away in the rolling Normandy countryside and some are over 100 years old. Prices per round during the week average between 25-35 euros.

How to get there
Ryanair fly from Stansted to the local airport Dinard which is 1 hours drive away. Cross channel ferries arrive at Le Havre, Cherbourg, Saint Malo (1-2 hours drive). Use of a car is essential.

Distances
The stunning medieval cities of Rennes, St Malo, Dinan and the 'Gateway to Brittany' Fougeres are all within 1-1½ hours by car. So too is the Bayeaux Tapestry. Mont Saint Michel (the most popular tourist attraction outside of Paris) is 25 minutes by car.

There is a local water sports park for children, indoor and outdoor swimming pools, an aquarium, golf, fishing canooing, cycling, horse riding and for the more adventurous, hang gliding.

Further details
The nearest village with all the amenities (bakery, post office, shops, bar restaurant etc) is Isigny Le Buat. 4kms from La Grange.

Fancy visiting the channels Islands the ferries leave from Saint Malo or Granville. The crossing to Jersey takes just 1¼ hours.

Booking notes
To make a reservation you will need to complete a booking form and pay a deposit of 25% of the rental amount at the time of the reservation. The balance is payable 8 weeks before arrival.

A refundable damages deposit of £150 is also required and is payable with the remainder of the rental money 8 weeks before arrival.

pets are a possibility but ask at time of reservation.

Thanks for the lovely stay at La Grange. We enjoyed every minute. There are lots of nice walks and a useful walkers information pack. The house is not far from the sea, and in a peaceful country setting. The house had all the equipement you need. It was great to have internet so we could watch movies. We wish you all the best in France.
