From May - September preferred changeover day Saturday - exceptions may be possible depending on circumstances. For the rest of the year bookings are flexible depending on availability. Usually departure time before 10am, arrival time after 4pm.

Notes on accommodation
Le Laurier Bleu is very children friendly, and in addition to a small playground (swing) and various toys also provides the necessary for babies / small children (baby bed, bathtub, children chair, etc). In general possibility to bring well-behaved pets, but obligation for consultation with the owners beforehand.

Coast/Beach
5 minute walk (ca 700 m) to beautiful large white sand beach (part of which is guarded). 10 minute walk to stunning seaside natural reserve.

15 km, in Caen.
Travel
Excellent ferry connection between Portsmouth and Riva-Ouistreham. Next airport Caen (20km). Airport Paris-Roissy ca 2 hours by car. Car not needed in Ouistreham due to closeness both to beach and city-center, though recommended if one plans to explore Normandy.
Distances
City-center 500m, port (with fishmarket) 500m, Caen 15km, Museum for Peace (Caen). Riva-Ouistreham itself one of the Normandy landing beaches, Omaha Beach ca 20km. Bayeux Tapestry 30km. Mont St Michel 80km (Unesco World Heritage Site).
Further details
At the end of a canal that links Caen to the sea, Ouistreham is an active seaside resort and a paradise for sports lovers, whether on the sea or land. There is also a Sea Water Therapy Centre and Casino. Take a stroll among 18th century fishermans houses nestling in narrow streets. As one would expect, Ouistreham has a good range of hotels, restaurants and bars. Visit the Church of Saint-Samson, built around 1150 and restored in the 19th century. Also the nearby Barn with Said (Tithe Barn), now fully restored - a barn was first documented in 1257. Ouistreham has two museums - the N°4 Commando Museum commemorating the liberation of Ouistreham on June 6, 1944 and the Museum of the Atlantic Wall, the original bunkered German headquarters, now with all rooms restored to their original functionality.
