"Holiday at Villa Ivie"
This has been our third visit to Villa Ivie and with 2 children (7 and 11) this has been our best family holiday location out of all our family holidays. A combination of fantastic hosts (thanks John and Christine again for everything!!) and a great cottage with the heated pool is just what you need with a great outdoor eating area next to it. All the rooms are well presented in a style suiting the property. Breakfast under the gazebo by the pool is a must. Also the location of La Caillere provides a host of good family days out within 90 minutes drive of here, forest parks, water parks, Zoos, La Rochelle and Puy De Fou to name but a few. We have found different places to visit on all 3 of our holidays and the last 2 holidays were for 2 weeks so you will not get bored here. The hosts John and Christine are so welcoming and nothing is too much trouble and they have a wealth of knowledge of the area they are happy to share. If you are after a combination of lazy days by the pool with days exploring the French way of life you will not find a better place to do it from.

Terry and Janice Miles and their family stayed from 13 August 2012 for two weeks and said "The whole family had a great time, the villa is lovely with all you could wish for and the pool is fantastic."
About the Owner
Christine and I live in Essex . I am now retired since January 2010 but spent my entire working life in the travel business working with some of the best known brands in the industry such as British Caledonian Airways, Blue Sky Holidays and Travelscene. Prior to retiring I helped set up what is now the largest UK on-line bed bank, Hotels4u.com and Medhotels five years ago before selling the company to the Thomas Cook Group in 2007. Travel and tourism is in my blood and we were delighted to purchase our first house in France in 2005 and the subsequent two additional properties in 2007 and 2008. All three renovated properties are situated close to each other in the lovely rural hamlet of La Riviere Morin just outside the village of La Caillere in the Vendee.
Year property purchased: 2008
Why this location?
It was always our dream to live in France when we retired and we realised that when we purchased our first house at La Riviere Morin in 2005. The rural nature of the Vendee appealed to us and the friendliness of the local people and the sheer space ticked all the boxes. It is also within easy distance of the Loire Valley with all its magnificent Chateaux (not that we have visited many yet !) It's been great fun, not to say a lot of hard work to complete the decoration and refurbishment of our own house and to do the same with our two other properties that we are now letting to guests. We now look forward to welcoming our guests and to share the delights of the region.
What are the unique benefits of the property?
We try to visit our house every month and spend most of the summer there. The locals are always very welcoming and we enjoy our meals at the local restaurant but perhaps more especially relaxing in our beautiful garden over supper in the evening after a day beside the pool. We also grow our own vegetables but there's much more space yet to cultivate to make us self sufficient in the coming months and years. As the barbecue dies, there's nothing more enjoyable than looking up to the sky at night and wondering at the myriad of stars above whilst hearing owls hooting up above us. Last summer saw the best crop of cherries we've ever seen on a tree in our garden and the quince harvest will be second to none. Bliss!
