This charming stone gite with its own private laneway is on the edge of the woods near the village of Pontcirq. The swimming pool, surrounded by mature shrubs, is a few steps away. Its location is ideal for visiting the attractions of the Dordogne and the Cahors vineyards as well as the many excellent restaurants in the locality. For walkers there is a circular walking trail through our woods (full of wildlife!) beginning at the gite door. Day and night markets, village parties and the amazing local produce (foie gras, cabecou cheese,stiffed prunes, duck, black Cahors wine) for which this historic region is famous is found in unbelievably picturesque settings. A morning at the bustling market in Cahors followed by lunch on a terrace overlooking the river, then an afternoon at the pool with a book from our extensive library is almost a perfect day! Notes on accommodation
The property is on four levels with stairs so is not suitable for very young children but we have a series of stair gates that can be used to block off areas. It is available all year with both central heating and a wood burner. Discounts for long lets.

Further details
Your nearest big town is Prayssac - 12 km away. It has all the facilities you might need. There are two large supermarkets there, Carrefour and Intermarche as well as a small Casino, a very good fruit and vegetable shop, several bakeries, cafès, newsagents, chemists, a doctor, a dentist and a vet. There's also a bank with an ATM and a post office. Its market is on a Friday morning and it`s a very good one, second only to Cahors Saturday market. The nearest artisanal bakery is in Labastide du Vert - 5 km away.
The closest restaurant to Laborie is Le Gindreau in St Medard, just 4 km from the gite. It is Michelin starred and though on the pricy side, it has a lovely terrasse and some good formulas for less expensive dining. Castelfranc (9 km) has two very nice restaurants also with lovely terrasses and there is a lovely restaurant in a converted coach house in Goujounac (8 km), one of our prettiest villages. Throughout the summer there are fetes in the surrounding villages and atmospheric night markets. Details on these will be in the gite along with other restaurants and places to eat.
Booking notes
A deposit of £200/EUR200 required to book the property with the balance payable 6 weeks before your stay. I'll send on a booking form to fill in which when it is sent back ensures that the your chosen dates are kept for you. A security deposit of EUR200 is required on arrival which will be returned to you departure. It is possible to get a "maid service" (EUR50) if you don`t want to clean up before you leave. This is completely optional and came into being on request from some of our visitors.

I love this area mainly for the warm sunny climate! Cahors is a lovely laid back town with a fantastic market, there's plenty to do and everyone is so friendly!
