Two Houses with Character and Charm
Stunning Mountain Views, edge of Quiet Village
1 and 2 Bedroom Houses
|
|
The two properties have been renovated to a high standard and yet retain all of their original charm, they are attached but at different levels. The original stone houses cosy in winter and cool in the summer are built into the mountain itself, every unique feature, with wooden beams, wood-burning stoves, south facing terraces, barbeques and magical views, in a lovely rural setting. The village is close to Foix the medieval capital of the Ariege for all amenities plus wonderful cafes, markets, restaurants and a magnificent chateau. The Ariege is waiting to be explored and is never overcrowded. It is a paradise for walkers, painters, writers, thinkers and dreamers.

What an incredible experience La Fount and the village have been. The hospitality and personal touches provided completed the magic for us - the ambiance, the thoughtful way the rooms have been restored, the incredible views from the windows and the terrace over the mountains. Magnifique!

We thought the information we received about La Fount and Foix was too good to be true but it surpassed all our expectations. A truly wonderful place and wonderful hosts. Fell in love with it all,

Owner profile
About the owner
We decided to change our busy lives in Ireland in 2003, being self-employed can be rewarding but also very stressful. We wanted to move to a warmer climate but with all the seasons. So we decided on the South of France and fell in love with the beautiful Pyrenees, with its breathtaking ever changing views. We had always lived in the countryside so when we found Montoulieu, close to Foix and just off the main route from Toulouse to Andorra we knew we had something very special.
The people have made us so welcome, even to their amusement and amazement as we had very little french when we arrived!
It has been a wonderful adventure which we want to share with our guests in our lovely accommodation at 'La Fount'.
Year purchased: 2003
Why the owner chose a home in this location
We could not resist the mountains., the clean air, surrounded by nature, the slower pace of life, like stepping back in time. The scenery changes with the seasons and is just beautiful.
We love the toll of the village tower, the sound of the bells on the local small flocks of sheep, the glimpse of a family of deer through the trees, the french gathering to pick the wild mushrooms and collecting all manner of nuts, fruit deom the forest. The unspoilt countryside, quite wild but so easily accessible, being so in touch with the environment.
Yet a very short drive away from the village all you could wish for in shops, markets, fetes and culture.
The whole region is never crowded and we feel there is a new adventure for us each day.
