A WiFi network, Wii-Fit games console, media system and LCD screens in each room and a supply of DVDs/games/books give you the opportunity to truly kick back and unwind after enjoying the outdoors. The apartment has its own lockable garage with equipment storage facilities and ample outdoor parking space. The ground floor leads to an open plan contemporary fully equipped kitchen/diner, a stylish twin bedroom with en-suite bathroom and a separate WC. The first floor has a spacious living room with a traditional wood-burning fire-place, amazing alpine views and a large south-facing balcony. Also the master bedroom and jacuzzi bath occupy this floor. Mezzanine provides a chill out area.

Changeover day
Changeover day is Saturday to Saturday, Arrival after 5pm and departure by 10am. We may be flexible on this, given exceptional circumstances of guests.

Notes on accommodation
Other features: Underfloor heating throughout. Webcam facing outwards from the balcony of Buqa. Contemporary, accented lighting throughout the apartment. SKYPE telephone with local UK number attached. Well suited for children. As an optional extra, Buqa provide catering packages, that are tailor-made to suit the guests' requirement. Buqa has an environentally conscious ethos, as illustrated by 'green' stickers around the apartment. Pets will be considered but at discretion. Buqa is a no smoking.
Accessibility
Wheelchairs and pram/pushchairs can be accessed through the ground floor, which leads to the kitchen/diner, twin bedroom, en-suite shower room and separate WC. However, at present there is no access to the first floor, balcony and mezzanine floor.
Outside
Buqa has a lockable double garage attached, which can place guests' vehicle but is better utilised as a storage room for sports equipment, such as skis, boards and bikes.
There is ample space on the driveway for up to 2 vehicles to park.
Golf
There is a Golf course in Morillon, a few km drive away situated over a lake.
Skiing
Apartment Buqa is situated in the heart of Samoens village. From here, you can reach the summit at 1600m, in just 10 minutes.
Samoens 1600m forms part of the Grand Massif, the third biggest ski area in the Alps, opening you up to 265km of extensive skiing and snowboarding. It comprises of 77 lifts and 133 slopes (15 green, 53 blue, 51 red and 14 black). Samoens is one of the only resorts that offer good skiing for all grades and abilities, with an excellent snow record to date. All this is accessible via an 8 minute ride up in the Grand Massif Express lift, embarking from Samoens centre. To add to the convenience, substantial investment has gone into refurbishing a free car park at the foot of the Station.
For those who share the passion for snowboarding, there are now 3 snow ‘jam’ parks and 3 half pipes for uninhibited fun. In addition, the Bolle Winter Tour takes place annually - an open contest with some of the world’s best riders.
Travel
Geneva Airport is 60km away from Samoens, and less than 1 hours drive. Car hire isn't essential but highly recommended in order to allow guests the flexibility to explore surrounding resorts, and eliminating the need to cart around sports equipment to slopes etc. Train and bus services are also a good alternative, the nearest train station is in Cluses (20km away). We can recommend private cab transfer to and from the airport, with competitive rates and quality service.
Distances
Geneva: 60km from Samoens. Grand Massif plain: Sixt, les Carroz, Flaine, Morillon, all within 10km from Samoens. Portes du Soleil: Lets Gets, Morzine and Avoriaz all accessable from 20km of Samoens. Chamonix and Vallee Blanche 45km from Samoens opens you up to an outdoor activity paradise, in all seasons.

Local Amenities: A quick descent into the village opens you up to all the local amenities and facilities that you may need whilst on your holiday.
Banks: There are two French banks, both accept all major credit/debit cards and operate in Euros: Bank Populaire des Alpes and Credit agricole. They also have a 'hole-in-the-wall' for out of hours services.
Supermarkets: There is a local Petit Casino supermarket in the village centre, ideal for essentials. There is a fresh fruit and vegetable market which is open daily. In addition, the village square holds a local food and crafts market every Wednesday. For a big shop, there is a large Carrefour supermarket in the next village of Taninges, with almost everything you need under on roof, (and an adjoining fuel station). This is a 5 minute drive from the apartment.
Other services/facilities: The village has two florists, a post office, a dry cleaner, two bakeries, two chocolatiers, a pharmacy, a fuel station, a tourism office and a sports centre.
There are ample clothes shops, sport equipment shops, souvenir shops, craft and jewellery shops, bars and restaurants dotted throughout the village.

Guest comments
We really enjoyed our stay at Buqa. The chalet is well laid out and has all the creature comforts we could have wished for. The view over the mountain from the lounge is spectacular. The chalet is perfectly located, being 5 minutes walk from the village whilst also being situated down a quiet lane so its very peaceful.
I personally found it quite difficult to operate the jacuzzi (I didn't look at the manual to see if there were any instructions though...). It would be very helpful to have a crib sheet user guide for the jacuzzi similar to that which you supply for the heating instructions (we found the latter very useful). The other downside was the saucepans were quite scratched and not easy to cook with (although I appreciate holiday makers don't look after expensive pans!).
Gilles was very helpful and friendly and it was a real bonus that he was able to give us a lift to the mountain in the mornings.
All in all we had a great time.

We are a family of 3 generations who live the UK, but spend a lot of our quality time in the French Alps. In a nutshell, we come with a mixed bag of interests, whether it is relaxing by taking leisurely strolls in the French mountain air, or adrenaline-fuelled activities such as paragliding, snowboarding, cycling peaks and troughs or water sports. The one thing we have in common is that when we're away from the hustle and bustle of day-to-day life, we like to be able to enjoy each other’s company with quality surroundings, knowing that we can do as much or as little as we want. We have countless happy memories of the Alps, but have always looked for a place we can stay that has all the comforts of home, with added luxury and real attention to detail.

Why the owner chose an apartment in this location
We fell in love with a romantic, authentic alpine village of Samoens the first time we set our eyes upon it. Its rustic old-worldly charm, its local history and the natural beauty that this place holds could not be matched elsewhere! Samoens is a stone's throw away from the extensive snow plains of Grand Massif, and the terrain in perfect for cycling or hiking in the summer months. Also, being only 45 minutes drive from Geneva meant that we could hop on a plane from the UK and enjoy the home-from-home comforts in a matter of a few hours.
