|
This beautiful calming holiday home is in the tiny rural Hamlet of Le Malusson. 'Les Anges' is within easy reach of all major Dordogne tourist attractions. The historic town of Perigueux is approximately 20 mins drive to the north and Les Eyzies 20 mins to the south. It has easy access from Bergerac and Bordeaux Airports, or a fairly straight 8 hour drive via mainly toll roads from Calais. The early 1800's converted farmhouse is south facing, so gathers the warmth of the sun each day. Decorated with natural handmade paints, every room in the house has French doors that open onto the garden, giving it a lovely bright and spacious feel. It boasts a large private enclosed garden with fruit trees and chlorine free, salt water heated pool and outdoor dining areas. We also have a fenced Etange, or small lake, for a little relaxed fishing. A short 1km walk brings you to the village of La Douze with bar, shop and restaurant.

About the owner
Hi, if you are reading this then you have an interest in our French Holiday home, so thank you. Donna, my wife, and I had been looking at holiday properties for years, but never found the right one, until we came across Les Anges (The Angels) whilst holidaying in the Dorgogne. We were immediately struck with how nice the area was and have been very happy with Les Anges' charm and authentic French feel ever since. We always take our four children to the amazing local caves and prehistoric sites, and on the river canoeing in the summer. Les Anges is a great place to hang out all day or perfect to use as a base for exploring the area. The huge garden and pool are very inviting. When we go the sky is nearly always the deepest blue and crystal clear and at night the stars blow us away. Enjoy
Year purchased: 2006
Why the owner chose a home in this location
We wanted a holiday home where we could take our family to relax. Somewhere accessible from the UK without too much hassle. The Dordogne region had always been on our list and when we looked around 'Les Anges' it felt the right one to buy. The area has been home to people for tens of thousands of years, the caves and remains of their ancient settlements are littered all over. Its easy to see why they lived here. The wonderful combination of rivers, caves, green fields, forests and valleys make it ideal to farm, raise cattle and be safe from the elements. It doesn't take a lot of imagination to see and feel that you are in a place where communities have lived peacefully and in harmony with nature for eons. We love it! Les Anges sits in a tiny hamlet on a slight hill surrounded by fields.
Unique benefits of the property
We live in a rural part of south east England, its nice and quiet but when we go to Le Anges, its so much more relaxed and gentle. The pace and way of life is stress free. Everyday feels like Sundays. Our time there is spent charging our batteries up by hanging out at the poolside and eating home cooked French food. The pool is salt water and great for kid's skin. No more red eye! The local Sunday Market and village shop and baker's, both 5 min walk away, means that you don't really have to leave home if you don't want to. Turn off your phone and forget the time! Locals are friendly and genial. Trips out, depending on the time of year, are plentiful. Chateaux's, caves, river canoeing, and don't forget the wild Boar park 15 mins away. The house has oil heating so is also perfect year round.
