La Maison des Vins was built in 2007 to a luxurious specification, providing a secluded holiday home within the grounds of Mas San Julian. It also offers the additional benefit of easy access to the extensive grounds, swimming pool and other facilities offered to all guests. La Maison is furnished to an exceptionally high standard with leather sofas and oak units, modern appliances, state-of-the-art bathrooms and air conditioning throughout. Downstairs accommodation comprises a large open-plan lounge enjoying stunning views over the Mas San Julian paddocks and Les Alberes Mountains. Notes on accommodation
The property benefits from heating and full air-conditioning. Standing in its own grounds with private parking and garden. The views from the house and the gardens are stunning, with Canigou to the side and the Mas San Julian paddocks and Les Alberes Mountain range to the front. The accommodation is suitable for children with baby/toddler packs available at no extra cost consisting of stair gates, baby monitors, night lights, sterilisers, cots, high chairs, booster seats etc.
Accessibility
The ground floor of La Maison has been designed to accommodate wheel chairs, with wide doors and the ground floor bathroom allows access to the shower in a wheelchair. The terrace of the property is suitable for wheelchairs, but not the rest of the garden. Access to the swimming pool is possible - but does not have ramps etc, it is in a rural environment.
Outside
The attractive private garden of La Maison is set to the front of the property and overlooks the paddocks and Les Alberes. The large terrace accommodated table and chairs, parasol and barbecue. The lounge opens onto a private garden with table and chairs, sun umbrella and barbecue.
Golf
There are plenty of very good golf courses in the area ranging from 30 minutes to 1.5 hours, some here in France and some exceptional ones just over the border into Spain. As a keen golfing family we can offer lots of ideas and advice on where to go to ensure some good games.
Special interest holidays
We specialise in family holidays: Our facilities include a fabulous indoor play area for out of season holidays which includes a soft play area, ball pool, children's games, books etc., and pool table. In the outside play area is Camelot castle with rope ladder, slide, swings, sand pit, towers and more plus table tennis for the older children or adults.
In addition to the play areas there is our very popular
15 x 7m heated swimming pool that created hours of fun for children of all ages and adults alike.

The guests of La Maison are also welcome to use the other facilities which include 2.5 acres of parkland, the heated 15 X 7.5 metre swimming pool, shared with the other guests as well as the outside childrens play area with climbing frame, slide, sand pits, swings, table tennis etc, and the indoor play area offering soft play for the young children with ball pool, push along toys, table tennis, snooker table and wide screen TV with Sky facility for those "not to be missed" sporting events.

About the owner
Mas San Julian is a labour of love that grows and changes every year. Many of our guests return to Mas San Julian regularly and it gives us great delight to welcome them back and to see their reactions as they look around and notice all the changes we have made since their last visit.
2010 introduces:
New Outdoor play area which includes a large play module with decks, dens, climbing ramp, sandpits, swing and two-seater rider, slides and bridges. Push along toys are available for the younger children, alongside which is table tennis and seating.
New Indoor play with a super soft play area for younger children, ball pool, push along toys, tables and chairs for games and drawing amongst other activities, table tennis, large screen TV with Sky facilities and seating for parents.

Why the owner chose a home in this location
Having been visiting this area of France for many years we knew that it was the area in which we wanted to live. With such diverse countryside from the sea and beaches to the snow capped moutains we thought it would be a perfect environment to bring our children up. We have benefitted from day trips skiing - resorts just one hour away, the sea half an hour away with watersports and the countryside being perfect for walking, cycling and horse-riding. Our children have benefitted from many experiences that would not have been possible before moving here. In addition, we are just 20 minutes from the Spanish border which opens up yet another world of fabulous opportunities. With three keen golfers in the family, Spain has proved a huge benefit offering many superb golf courses.
Unique benefits of the property
Mas San Julian is located just 1.5 kms from the town centre of Thuir, a lively, traditional market town unspoilt by tourism but oozing with character. Therefore, it is easy to walk into the town, a comfortable 20 minute stroll along a flat country road, or a 3 minute drive. The town has every facility required from supermarkets, restaurants, bars to gift shops and fashion boutiques.
Many of our guests arrive at Mas San Julian and hardly leave, the facilities (swimming pool, play areas etc.) being so well placed that parents can relax outside their lodges whilst the children can safely play in the distance - visible but not intrusive. The 2.5 acres of lush grass has been a constant source of entertainment and fun for children and adults alike.
