Saturday is our normal changeover day. Arrival 4pm. Departure 10am.
Notes on accommodation
Very safe play area for young children. Games barn with pool table and small table tennis. Old fashioned board games too.
Accessibility
Our property has not been specially designed for the wheelchair user but is accessible. Lounge, kitchen, bedrooms, bathroom all on one level. Previous disabled guests have found it very user friendly. Please let us know if you have any special needs and we will do our best to help.
Outside
There are gardens on all sides. Each property having their own outside dining area with table, seating and gas barbecues. The shared swimming pool has locked gates at both ends and sun loungers. Lower garden area. Lots of room to play or relax whichever takes your fancy.
Coast/Beach
Swimming lake with sandy beach and children's play area within easy walking distance. Toilet and showers available plus life guard at certain times during peak school holiday season.
Special interest holidays
Tennis courts nearby, key available with deposit from bar in square. Swimming lake easy walk. Which has a bar/ restaurant on-site.
Travel
Limoges and Angouleme airports about one hour. Bergerac,Brive and Bordeaux about two hours. Good train links. Calais about 8 hours. A car is a must as rural public transport is sparse.
Distances
St Saud Lacoussiere village square less than 5 minutes walk. Nontron 15 minutes. Larger supermarkets available here. Well worth a visit especially on Market day or when the night market is on.
Brantome 20 minutes drive, not to be missed. Perigueux and Limoges both about an hour.
Further details
The restaurants in the village cover a wide spectrum. Traditional local French, The Sully. Cosmopolitan and friendly, The Bar and L'Odyssee. The St Jacques Hostellerie which is superb and rightly famous, needs to be booked very early to ensure a place. Pierre's bar and restaurant at the lake with its themed nights. Every town and village has its restaurants. See our visitors book for recommendations. Lots of sporting opportunities for all, a favourite is kayaking at Brantome. Horse riding, golf, karting, cycling can all be found in the area. Although most needs can be supplied in the village, Nontron offers good supermarkets, Super U, Intermarche and Lidl. There is a market on in the area almost every day of the week, Piegut on Wednesdays is always well attended.

6 adults and 6 teenagers have all had a brilliant holiday. The house, garden and pool have been perfect for our large party. Everything you need is in St Saud. Treated ourselves (adults) to a fabulous meal in the St Jacques to celebrate a 50th birthday. The Pollards 2009.

About the owner
I am Agnes and my husband is David. We are in our early retirement years with lots of energy still. With three independent children and four lovely grandchildren our place in France is very popular.
We still have strong ties to home so we are lucky to have a foot in both places. After over thirty years in business we were ready for a slowing down period. This has proved the perfect way of doing that for us.
With an easy commute between the UK and France we feel at home in either place, sharing our time equally between the two.

Why the owner chose a home in this location
After many wonderful holidays in this lovely area we decided to take the plunge and buy after falling in love with the village of St Saud Lacoussiere and the house and views.
Unique benefits of the property
Everyone has been so friendly we have now got some great French friends and feel we belong in the village. St Saud is such a pretty village it is impossible to resist its charm and the restaurants are right on the doorstep. The countryside is gorgeous but there are also lovely places like Perigueux and Brantome which we never tire of.
