Chateau du Faure is an oasis of tranquillity, overlooking its own valley in 20 acres of Entre Deux Mers. 25 mins from St.Emilion and a few kms from the River Dordogne and the picturesque village of Gensac. The 3 houses have the rare ability to have a totally independent existence, each having its own substantial grounds, pool etc. by opening up the normally closed off courtyard, becoming an integrated estate, necessary for its origins as a venue for the celebrated Orpheus and Bacchus Music and Wine Festival that gives around 25 chamber concerts a year at the chateau. 3 concert grand pianos. Few, if any, venues that offer you the possibility of 24 bedrooms, each with bath or shower-room, in such a peaceful setting. Spaciousness applies both to the properties and to the grounds. With 3 pools, a superb tennis court, croquet lawn and boules court and 3 table-tennis tables there is much to do. Indoors the salon able to become a large cinema, 2 snooker tables and wi-fi.

Notes on accommodation
The estate is fully centrally heated and has several large open fires. Eight bedrooms open directly out onto a large terrace. Highly suitable for children.
Outside
The 20 acre estate has 3 swimming pools, all fenced, each 10x 5m, a tennis court, croquet lawn, boules court, 48 sun-loungers and three separate BBQ areas, each close to a pool. there is an attractive arbor, with honeysuckle and wisteria vines. There are attractive walks into the Chateau's own valley, with a picnic area with table, parasol out of sight of the property. The valley teams with birds and wild-life, cuckoos, hoopoos, orioles, woodpeckers etc.
Coast/Beach
The wonderful Atlantic beaches at Arcachon are 90 minutes drive away, with great boat trips around the bay. Sensational views from the Dune of Pyla, the largest sand dune in Europe. Closer at hand, just 10 mins drive away is the Lac du Cadie, which as pedaloes, bar, restaurant and an attractive large beach for swimming.

25 mins away at Chateau Vigiers.

We run visits to famous, and other highly interesting, chateaux. Great cycling and walking country as well.

Lots of good local restaurants, Leclerc supermarkets at Castillon and Ste. Foy. St. Emilion is amazing, historic and beautiful. Bergerac is 40 mins to east, gateway to the beautiful Dordogne. Gensac has 2 boulangeries, a SPAR that has most things, a tabac, a bar. Canoeing on the Dordogne is a must, we have our own Canadian canoes. Also bicycles for rent

About the owner
My wife works for Bombardier, the global train co. based in Berlin and I live between Berlin, Bordeaux, and Cambridge - difficult to beat. I have been an entrepreneur for 20 years, before that I ran Ellerman Travel & helped found Keycamp Holidays after a brilliant family holiday with our own tent. We own 6 houses near Gensac and Ste. Foy-la-Grande, and I have managed all the restoration projects. My aim is to provide EXPERIENCES, not justholidays, with the best holiday accommodation, - luxury kitchens, all bedrooms en-suite, cinemas, wifi, hi-fi, satellite TV and large securitised pools. I organise the celebrated Orpheus & Bacchus Music & Wine Festival, with concerts in May 21-27(the 4th Hummel Festival), July1-6 (Cambridge University Chamber Orchestra), and Sept 1-6, (Sinfonia d'Amici).

Why the owner chose a guest house in this location
I was not looking to buy another property - we already had one house and had restored the original chai. But I had just started my Orpheus & Bacchus Music & Wine Festival in the original houses and knew they were too small. When I saw an estate agent's photos of this property I fell in love with the granary - a perfect music salon. So, several years and a lot of money later I had my perfect venue, able to sleep 48 people in en-suite accommodation, a fabulous salon for music - classical or rock - and the ability to sit up to 78 guests for a gastronomic dinner. Beautiful countryside in the famous Bordeaux appellation, 20 acres of it around the chateau, good climate, superb transportation with 2 airports and a TGV station nearby, close to the magical hilltop wine-town of St.Emilion - Superb!
