Run by Anna and Simon Davey, 2 award winning critically acclaimed ex- restaurateurs, Lac de maison is a complex of 3 gites set in a 4 acre oasis of tranquillity within the French countryside yet only a couple of miles from 2 well equipped villages. The 3 gites are well equipped and furnished to a high standard. Your hosts are on site to ensure that you have a great holiday and offer such services as home-cooked meals, pamper days, host BBQ, high teas, baby sitting and baby equipment. Within the grounds there is a nicely decked solar heated pool, children’s play area, childrens play room, various sports equipment and plenty of quiet shady spots to chill out, read a book or have a glass of wine. The surrounding area has something for everyone, excellent cycling and walks, golf, historical buildings, animal parks, theme parks, fishing, go-kart, quad bikes, shopping in Poitiers, thalassotherapy in La Rochelle, lake beaches locally and main beaches just over 1 ½ hours drive.

Prices are for the property per week in UK pounds. Please note that there is a heating surcharge of £30 per week in April and October. Complimentary basket of wood will be provided for the wood burners, subsequent baskets will be available for €5 each.

Notes on accommodation
All gites have electric heating (2 of them also have wood burners). Anti-allergy pillows and duvets provided. All twin beds can be made up as a double on request. All gites can be child proofed on request, including safety locks, bed guards, stair gates. Baby equipment can be provided on request, we have cots, stroller, bumbo, potty, high chair, steriliser, cutlery, baby monitor, changing mat, baby bath, baby den – please let us know what you require when you book. We can also provided baby sitting services. Complimentary welcome pack included in the price (butter, milk, tea, sugar, bread, jam and wine).
Outside
Large communal gardens, each gite has it's own semi - private area with garden furniture and BBQ. We have 4 adult bikes and 2 children's bikes on site, a football goal, badminton, swingball, boules, giant Jenga, Twister, trampoline, Swing/slide set, a hammock. Shared solar heated pool (5 metres by 10 metres). Covered paddling pool. Various outdoor toys and a sandpit. Also various animals are here for you to visit, why not collect the eggs from the chickens or brush Filou and Tamara the shetland ponies or play with Honey the dog. New for 2012 a playroom in our newly built barn with many toys, an indoor bouncy castle for toddlers, various arts and crafts and a dressing up box. On the first floor you will find a pool table, table football and airhockey, there is also an information centre with a computer and printer.
Coast/Beach
Lake and beaches within a short drive. Main beach at La Rochelle 1 1/2 hours drive away.
Golf
There are many great golf courses in the area, most notably Chateau les Forges just a couple of miles down the road! A wide variety of activities can be found at the Golf Club Château des Forges, leading to a warm, friendly and relaxing atmosphere for all the family. The golf club consist of three 9 hole courses offering different difficulties, a driving range, a putting green and a 'chipping green'. We can recommend 7 other courses within an hours drive.

Airport -Poitiers 35km (25 mins drive). La Rochelle - 122km (1 1/2 hours drive).

Further details
We are located on the edge of the Vienne within a mile of Deux-serves. We are surrounded by countryside in what can only be described as a tranquil oasis. The nearby villages of Benassay and Vasles have great facilities with restaurant, café bar, cinema, chemist hairdressers, general store, butchers, cash point, petrol station, weekly market and an excellent boulangerie for your fresh croissant and bread for breakfast. There are good walks and cycle paths to both villages and there are many more extensive walks and cycling in the area for those who take it a little more seriously - information and maps can be provided. Further afield there are many animal parks, theme parks, historical buildings, shopping, golf, fishing, quad biking, markets and golf to name just a few.

07/07/2010 - We're sad to leave today after 2 wonderful weeks here. Anna and Simon have been fantastic hosts, nothing too much bother, friendly, helpful and cheerful. We've all loved playing in the pool, cycling the lanes and visiting the area. Home cooking is fab. Thanks so much for a lovely holiday!
25/06/2011 - We've all had an absolutely wonderful holiday, Gil (4) and Alice (2)loved every minute of it especially with Honey the dog. Simon and Anna are the perfect hosts and have given us a truly memorable holiday. We hope to return soon.
