Two sensitively restored stone cottages set in the grounds of our 18th century Charentaise farmhouse, each having their own private walled garden. Surrounded by the beautiful French countryside, we have set out to create an authentic environment enabling you to enjoy the simple pleasures of rural life here.

Kitchen/dining room: light and airy with french doors onto private garden. Stone floor and walls, circular dining table and four comfortable dining armchairs. Hi-fi CD player. French TV, VCR & DVD available upon request. Kitchen: electric oven, gas hob, fridge with freezer compartment, washing machine, microwave, toaster, liquidiser, stainless steel saucepans, plain white crockery. Shower room with wash basin, shower and WC. Double bedroom: Double french wooden bed and bedroom furniture, exposed oak beams, stone walls and wooden floor. Twin bedroom: two single French iron beds, bedroom furniture, stone walls, wooden floors. |

Outside
Each cottage has it's own private lawned garden with gravel sun terrace, herb garden, wisteria covered pergola, barbecue, wooden or iron garden tables and chairs and teak sunloungers and cushions. A shared splash pool, shallow but 3m in diameter, is fully fenced for children's safety. We provide an exterior table tennis table, a range of bikes and safety helmets and in true french style, a lovely pétanque court.
Guests are very welcome to stroll the grounds and enjoy the rose covered arbour, the fish pond and waterfall, the vegetable gardens, orchard and our rare breed sheep and hens.
Coast/Beach
The fashionable, historic port of La Rochelle is only 90 minutes drive from Mandegault. There's a sandy beach just a few minutes walk from the many chic boutiques in 'centre ville', art galleries, museums, visits of the harbour towers or just relax and absorb the atmosphere in one of the many quayside cafés or restaurants.
Travel
We are within an easy drive of several airports, our nearest being Poitiers is only a 45 minute drive then La Rochelle (1 hour 30 minutes drive), then Limoges (1 hour 45 minutes drive) Bordeaux & Tours (a 2 hour drive) Times are approximate and are based on driving within the speed limit.
A car is essential; many of our guests hire a car at the airport.
Distances
Our nearest boulangerie and restaurant is less than 2kms from us... a pleasant walk or if you're in a hurry for freshly baked croissants then take one of our bikes. Chef Boutonne, our nearest town, (4kms) with its fairytale château and 'lavoirs', has a bustling market with stalls of freshly caught fish and local produce, pavement cafés, restaurants, supermarkets.
Booking notes
25% non refundable deposit required to secure booking. Balance payable 6 weeks prior to the start of your holiday.
£50 damage deposit required per cottage per week. We are pleased to offer a 5% discount if both cottages are booked together.

We return home after 2 weeks in your fabulous gîte feeling refreshed and relaxed. Alison and Francis never appeared to tire of our endless questions or Eve's constant pestering to feed chickens and sheep. We have felt so welcome and thoroughly looked after. Brace yourselves: we will be back!
