This is a wonderful holiday property, with a wealth of sporting facilities (12 in all), and – uniquely – a music-lover’s paradise. It has a full concert Steinway (conditions apply), an enthralling large screen home cinema, and a hi-fi system (Quad Electrostatics/Krell/Meridian) that I have never heard bettered. Magnificent arching oak beams, spanning 10ms, original windows, doors and shutters provide a wonderful ambience to offer a holiday experience you will never forget, with different areas dedicated to dining, relaxing by the enormous fireplace, playing snooker, studying, or watching the remarkable large screen cinema with 7-channel sound, where you are on stage for opera or the Rolling Stones - kids and adults are enthralled. 8 en-suite bedrooms on the ground floor, and a fenced pool plus shaded arboretum outside, it is a house for people who want to be together and celebrate.

Owner profile
Ian Christians, Special Villas & Orpheus & Bacchus
About the owner
My wife works for Bombardier, the global train co. based in Berlin and I live between Berlin, Bordeaux, and Cambridge - difficult to beat. I have been an entrepreneur for 20 years, before that I ran Ellerman Travel & helped found Keycamp Holidays after a brilliant family holiday with our own tent. We own 6 houses near Gensac and Ste. Foy-la-Grande, and I have managed all the restoration projects. My aim is to provide EXPERIENCES, not justholidays, with the best holiday accommodation, - luxury kitchens, all bedrooms en-suite, cinemas, wifi, hi-fi, satellite TV and large securitised pools. I organise the celebrated Orpheus & Bacchus Music & Wine Festival, with concerts in May 21-27(the 4th Hummel Festival), July1-6 (Cambridge University Chamber Orchestra), and Sept 1-6, (Sinfonia d'Amici).
Year purchased: 1999
Why the owner chose a home in this location
When I saw the dilapidated granary on the first floor I fell in love with it and knew that I had found my perfect venue for my plans for a chamber music festival. I have kept the granary (now salon) as authentic as possible, all the beams, windows and internal shutters are original and I put in a new oak floor, roof and high technology beneath the plasterboard. I have designated areas for each activity, and put the en-suite bedrooms downstairs for coolness. Situated amongst the vineyards of Bordeaux, it is in a wonderful location, and I love the climate - not too hot. There is a karma that is very positive, the silence deafening. A neurosurgeon client told me he had never been to a place where he could relax so quickly! Depth of countryside, but great communications by road, air and train
Unique benefits of the property
If you want to be close to friends & family, have fun, & if you love films & music, there is no better place. I love La Musique & it has been the venue of some of the greatest music experiences one could wish for! It is my favourite house in the world, even on my own, backside to a great log fire in the great fireplace, watching the Rolling Stones live in concert on a large screen 60 foot away as though I am in the front row, or watching a Mozart opera, sipping a glass of mellow wine made by a friend, life does not get much better than this, & as the numbers increase - what a party! beautiful area for an exceptional range of sporting activities. A 9-hole pitch course will be created in the 12 acres, a cricket pitch, archery and perhaps a fishing lake. Also a seperate football pitch.
