Notes on accommodation
Most of our clients are families with small children, and the fact that all the bedrooms open onto a large terrace is a major bonus. I holidayed there with my 3 adult children, their spouses and 7 grandchildren and we all had a superb time.

Accessibility
About 8 steps down from drive to terrace, all bedrooms on ground floor. Wide staircase to first floor.

Outside
Large terrace with table-tennis table and tables with benches for 16 and parasols. Sun loungers for 16, 2 parasols by pool, large barbecue.Fenced pool 10m x 2m with constant 1.5m depth. All in walled garden. Parking for 8 cars. 50m walk to tennis court, boules court and croquet lawn (shared).

Coast/Beach
The Lac du Cadie, a large lake with sandy beaches, pedalos and fishing, together with a restaurant, is 10 minutes away. The Bay of Arcachon, and the Dune of Pyla (highest in Europe) is 90 minutes to the south-west.

Golf
Chateau Vigiers is 25 minutes away with quality 18 and 9 hole golf courses with luxury hotel.

We organise bespoke cooking schools and wine tours to the famous and the secret chateaux.

Travel
Bordeaux Merignac airport is 60 mins away, Bergerac 40 mins -if you fly we have 2 x 9-seater VW transporters for hire, pick-up/drop off possible, cheaper and quicker than rentals. Airlines cover all UK, BA, Flybe, Easyjet, bmibaby, also direct flights from Dublin, Brussels, Amsterdam and Paris. Train TGV arrives from Paris/Lille/London at Libourne, 30 mins away.

Distances
Ideally situated: village of Gensac 3km. Market towns of Ste. Foy-la-Grande and Castillon 14km. Wonderful and beautiful wine city of St. Emilion 26km. Historic Bordeaux 65km to the west, Bergerac around 34km to the east with the chateaux of the Dordogne just beyond. San Sebastien in Spain is just 3 hrs away.

3 good local restaurants within 5 mins. Leclerc supermarkets at Castillon and Ste. Foy (15 mins). St. Emilion is amazing, historic and beautiful. Bergerac is 40 mins to east, gateway to the beautiful Dordogne.

About the owner
My wife works for Bombardier, the global train co. based in Berlin and I live between Berlin, Bordeaux, and Cambridge - difficult to beat. I have been an entrepreneur for 20 years, before that I ran Ellerman Travel & helped found Keycamp Holidays after a brilliant family holiday with our own tent. We own 6 houses near Gensac and Ste. Foy-la-Grande, and I have managed all the restoration projects. My aim is to provide EXPERIENCES, not justholidays, with the best holiday accommodation, - luxury kitchens, all bedrooms en-suite, cinemas, wifi, hi-fi, satellite TV and large securitised pools. I organise the celebrated Orpheus & Bacchus Music & Wine Festival, with concerts in May 21-27(the 4th Hummel Festival), July1-6 (Cambridge University Chamber Orchestra), and Sept 1-6, (Sinfonia d'Amici).

Why the owner chose a home in this location
The Orangery was a fascinating museum of wine making, transport (stables) and farming. The walls were sound, the oak beams magnificent, the building tall with no first floor. Ideal restoration project as the walls and the beams would be impossible to build today. Ideal location for wine lovers, great for transport with 2 airports and the TGV nearby. Great climate, not too hot, with spectacular electric storms often at night. Lots to do, sports on site or nearby golf, canoeing on the Dordogne.

Unique benefits of the property
Solitude with the walled garden, sun all day, great entertainment within the house. The pleasure of living in an 18th century building. Table tennis and use of tennis court, croquet lawn and boules court. New for 2012 I am turning our wild valley into a beautiful area for an exceptional range of sporting activities. A 9-hole pitch course will be created in the 12 acres, a cricket pitch, archery and - big question - a fishing lake where the ultimate water level from multiple sources is the big issue. Also, a completely seperate football pitch, which will not be rectangular and will be higher in the middle than at the ends. Options include mini-bus rental, chef, maid service, exceptional wine cellar (Burgundies and Bordeaux at great prices), a DVD library for the exceptional big screen.
