Accommodation
Check availability The Farmhouse (Sleeps 4)
The old stone farmhouse is approached via its own secluded garden, which is well set up for outdoor dining and living. The farmhouse combines traditional French style of shuttered windows, exposed oak beams and tiled or wooden floors, with our own more modern uncluttered style. Downstairs is a large sitting room (70 sq m) with comfy sofas and rugs before an open fire, a dining area and a well equipped modern kitchen with range cooker, double oven and a dishwasher (and washing machine in a separate utility room). Up the open wooden stairs are two bedrooms. The larger room has a super king size double bed; the smaller bedroom has twin beds. The bathroom has a modern walk in shower and is finished in oak. Central heating and a log fire make the farmhouse cosy even in winter.

Check availability The Old Auberge (Sleeps 12)
The Auberge has been converted from a large stone barn. Approached via the gravelled stone courtyard, the front door leads into a huge living room with sofas and rugs in front of the library and wood burning stoves. Picture windows and double doors lead out to the spacious secluded terrace which gets sun all day long and looks out over our own fields to the valley and woods beyond. The large separate stone dining room glitters in evening candle light and has its own big open fireplace. The semiprofessional kitchen is well equipped and looks out over the courtyard. Upstairs are 6 double or twin bedrooms, each with en-suite bathrooms. All bedrooms are similar in size - 20m - and are simple but comfortable, with windows looking out to the courtyard or the valley below. All bedrooms have exposed beams and ceilings that slope up from the low windows to the eaves, about 4 metres high, making them cool and airy in the heat of summer. Several can be either single or double.

Check availability The Whole Domaine (Sleeps 16)
Renting the whole domaine gives you exclusive use of all the facilities and grounds, including the pool. The farmhouse and the auberge can accommodate up to 16 people in 8 double or twin rooms, with en-suite bathrooms to 7 of them. The old auberge is very large and has plenty of space for groups to enjoy time together and separate areas to do your own thing as well.

Notes on accommodation
All our accommodation is generous in scale, simply but stylishly furnished with a combination of modern furnishings and antiques and precious mementos from our travels. Kitchens are well equipped. The estate has no immediate neighbours apart from the Chateau next door, and you can walk for miles from the door, enjoying picnics on the land or by our small lake. There are fabulous views of the nearby Pyrenees. Its still a working arable farm, the grounds are very large and the lake is unfenced, so if you have children please talk to us first about whether it would be suitable.
We can usually arrange catering and some shopping, and this year will experiment with organic bread, vegetables, cheese and meat delivered to the door.

Accessibility
There is an en-suite garden room a few steps away from the main buildings which is wheelchair accessible and has a walk in shower. It can be taken with either the auberge or the farmhouse. Otherwise, all bedrooms and bathrooms are up one flight of stairs.

Outside
The farmhouse has a secluded private garden, and the auberge a large private terrace. Neither are overlooked. The buildings stand in two acres of gardens and orchards of lawns and mature trees. The pool is contained in its own walled garden, with outdoor table tennis nearby. There are also 55 acres of fields with well marked paths leading up to oak woods and long distance paths that lead straight from the door for may miles of walking or cycling.

Coast/Beach
The long beaches and coastal fishing towns of the Mediterranean start about an hour's drive away. There are local beauty spot lakes for swimming, boating, and fishing within 30 minutes drive.

Golf
There is a large golf course within a 30 minute drive.

Skiing
There is a family-oriented ski station at Mont d'Olmes, within about 45 minutes by car, for downhill and cross country skiing.

Special interest holidays
We work with a range of local and international experts to offer out of season accommodation to groups of walkers, painters, photographers, and for personal and physical development from tai chi to life coaching. Contact us if you want to join or run a special interest holiday.

Travel
Toulouse airport (BA, Easyjet, BMI, Flybe) is about an hour away, Carcassonne (Ryanair) about 30 minutes and Montpellier or Perpignan within two hours. There are major TGV stations at Toulouse and Bezier, both within an hour and a station at Castelnaudary about 20 minutes away. Car hire is recommended as there is no rural public transport other than taxis.

Distances
Shops and restaurants start at Fanjeaux, about 10 minutes drive, and at Mirepoix, 15 mins, which is one of the most lovely small market towns in France. Within about an hour, you can be in Toulouse, Carcassonne (about 40 mins), Beziers and Narbonne, or visit the Canal du Midi, the Pyrenees, Cathar castles, lovely abbeys and churches, and enjoy activities like horse riding, boating and kayaking, go karting, walking and climbing, caves.
