Chalet built in 1934 with modern tasteful extension, overlooking beautiful Les Contamines from the top of the nursery slope. Fitted very personally and comfortably. The panoramic living room window and the terraces enjoy south west and north facing view into the national parks. Skiing suits all abilities from beginner to extreme, with summer season offering wonderful hiking and climbing in addition to the local swimming lake, excellent tennis facilities, trail biking (and two golf courses within driving distance). The chalet itself is a labour of love with furniture mostly collected from brocante markets around France over a number of years and we hear time after time again from guests and friends that the large dining table with room for twelve,overlooking the nursery slope through panoramic windows (sometimes with night skiing) and the sauna in the basement, both are deal clinchers.

Incredible skiing, both for beginners / intermediaries and for those looking for a long randonee into the wilderness. Also within easy drive of Chamonix 40 mins. Courmayeur 1 hour. Flaine 1 hour. Mege / St Gervaise 10 mins. Les Clusaz 1 hour.

Beautiful scenery,perfect for walking, hiking, riding, climbing, biking etc.

Travel
Geneva 70 minutes - mostly on motorway. Turin 2½ hours. Lyon 2 hours. Chamberey 1½ hour. Le Fayet train station 20 minutes (international trains).

About the owner
Norwegian/French couple in love with this part of the world and feeling very privileged to have a second home here and being part of this community.We come here during all four seasons, and as often as time and money will allow mostly sharing with our friends and family.In our sixth year in the village we are starting to get some insider knowledge-its all about where to buy the cheese,who is going out with whom,rumours about new ski lifts being built and suchlike-but most of all,its a departure from urban stress and we do hope that our vistors find the chalet a peaceful oasis for recharging the batteries and taking in the immense beauty of the surrounding mountains.That said,we have not compromised on standards,and for those looking for absolute comfort-you will find it here.

Why the owner chose a home in this location
Les Contamines is located amidst the most beautiful mountain scenery in Europe watched over by the imposing Mont Blanc, the largest mountain in Europe but yet sheltered from mass tourism. The 700 inhabitants are deeply protective about the way of life and short term gains was never allowed to dictate the way this village is run. Despite that, Contamines is amongst the most welcoming ski and summer sport destinations anywhere in the alps and the quality of skiing and hiking leaves nothing to be desired.The fact that we are one hour from Geneva and yet so unspoilt and literally at the end of the road, still never ceases to amaze us.

Unique benefits of the property
We have spent considerable time roaming around regional France picking up furniture that reflects our styles and feel incredibly at home with the chalet the way its decorated. We also love the mind blowing views over the national park from the large living room windows and the ability to turn the sauna on and jump in with a cold beer just to get the skiing muscles relaxed after a long day in the outdoor. Isabel also loves snuggling down in front of the widescreen late at night watching a french film. At that point, I am normally snoring.
