Changeover day
Changeover day is Saturdays throughout the main season, lower/off season bookings can be flexible where possible. Arrival on first day from 4.30pm and departure on last day strictly by 9.30am.Website address on request.

Notes on accommodation
Sorry no pets accepted except possibly on long term off season winter lets. Please note there is a telephone at the cottage capable of receiving incoming calls worldwide but with outgoing calls on a restriction covering just the local area.
Accessibility
Unfortunately the cottage would not really be suitable for people with mobility difficulties.
Outside
10 x 5m private swimming pool, totally enclosed with oak and chestnut gate and fencing, fitted security alarm at your disposal. There are Roman steps at shallow end giving easy access for children or elderly, ladder at the deeper end. Enclosed gardens surround the cottage, with various garden furniture, barbecue and paved terrace around the swimming pool.
Coast/Beach
Beaches in the area offer a nice lazy day out for a change from the swimming pool, Royan - St Palais sur Mer - La Cτte Sauvage approx 2hrs drive have excellent beaches, La Rochelle has a few pretty coves at 1.5hrs and just south of here Chatillon sur plage offers larger sandy beaches, the oyster parks at Fourras will also offer the odd sandy cove.
Golf
There are several golf course/clubs in the area, Les Forges at Curzay a Dutch run 27 holes and English spoken, approx 1hr. Poitiers has Mignaloux Beavoir 18 holes approx 45 mins
St Junien 18 holes approx 1hr.
Special interest holidays
There is also local fishing on the river Charente or the river Vienne (licences required) or private fishing lakes. There are also several riding centers in the local area. For painting artists, there are many interesting local features that could keep you busy for hours market halls, old stone river bridges, abbeys and old churches. This is also a lovely area for cyclists, one of the french favourite past times of course, the countryside offering lots of lovely lanes and tracks and gently rolling so its not flat or too steep! Bike hire is available locally.
Travel
The cottage is easily accessible from any of the car ferry ports, all of them offering easy motorway driving at varying distances and times, Calais approx 6rs. The local airports Poitiers 1hr, Angouleme 1hr, Limoges 1.15hr, La Rochelle 1.5hr, offering good all year round services, not to mention major airports Bordeaux 2hrs, Nantes 2hrs and of course Paris. Trains are equally easy with Eurostar London Lille Poitiers. Car rentals available and a car is definitely necessary once here.
Distances
The cottage is situated half way between Civray and Charroux, Civray being a 12th century market town full of character and offering full everyday facilities necessary, Charroux renowned as one of the most charming old villages in France, both at 3-4kms. Ruffec 15km, Sauzι Vaussais 15km, Couhι, Confolens, Melle all closeby. Also being well positioned in the heart of the Poitou-Charentes area so easy access to Poitiers, Niort, Limoges, La Rochelle, Angouleme, St Jean D'Angely etc.
Further details
So set in the heart of the Poitou-Charentes, southern part of the Vienne (86), there are a multitude of treasures to discover in the area but if the weather is good you won't want to budge from the cottage except perhaps to do your shopping and sample the local markets. Daily requirements are all close to hand either at Civray and Ruffec. Alternatively 4 major cities easily accessible, Poitiers, renowned for Futuroscope the futuristic adventure park with exciting images and scientific wizardry, Angouleme, Niort with its 'marais poitevin' (Venice vert) a system of endless canals attracting an abundance of wildlife, Limoges dedicated to porcelain. La Rochelle approx 1.30hrs with its beautiful old port and fantastic sea food restaurants, Royan with its fabulous beaches and Zoo at 'La Palmyre' incredible flamingos, Cognac for brandy and pineau distilleries, Aquatic centre with diving or hamman facilitities. Closer to home the folklore festival at Confolens is a must in August, Silver mines at Melle, the Monkey farm at Romagne children love or simply enjoy walking/biking the surrounding countryside.

Hi, I am English but have lived and worked in France for over 20 years, speaking good French and the property I am offering for rental I have owned and rented out for holidays since 2000. The property is independent of where I live although I am around should you need me for any reason. The pool is cleaned on a regular basis throughout your holiday.
