Bordeaux and Bergerac airports are both within 1 hours drive.

Further details
Castillon La Bataille has a large market every Monday. There are the all usual local shops, banks and restaurants and 2 supermarkets in the town. There is a large selection of restaurants in the area. St Emilion is within 20 mins drive. Bikes can be hired in Sauveterre de Guyenne.An asphalted cycle piste commences in Sauveterre passing through lovely countryside as far as Bordeaux Canoes can be hired in Castillon la Bataille and Pessac.
The last battle of the 100 Years War is re-enacted annually on the outskirts of Castillon, from mid July to mid August. This son et lumiere spectacle is the highlight of the summer entertainment in the region.

I am the wife of one, the mother of four and the grandmother of eight.

Why the owner chose a home in this location
Having holidayed in France with our family for many years we decided on our retirement to buy a house where we could spend at least 6 months each year. We wanted to live in a French speaking community in order to learn more of the culture and to improve our spoken french. We did not want to be in little England. The main points which sold the property to us were the views, the peaceful location and 4000 merlot vines. The latter gave us an immediate introduction to the village through the local Cooperative where the wine from our vines is made and sold. Children can play safely in our traffic free zone.
Unique benefits of the property
The location offers total peace, superb views and. wonderful night skies with no light pollution. Nightingales can be heard, in the summer months by night and by day, hoopoe can be seen in the garden and among the vines. The golden auriole is heard daily through the summer and if you are lucky you will get that glimpse of gold as it flashes by. The garden contains walnut peach,apricot, fig and cherry trees. The terrace is partially covered by numerous perfumed climbing plants adding to the pleasure of eating outdoors or whilst you just sit and watch people working in the vines or just doing nothing with a glass of local wine in your hand.
