La Scierie is a renovated water-powered saw mill on the banks of the River Arget in La Mouline, Serres Sur Arget. In the heart of the Ariege, La Scierie makes an excellent base for exploring the regions' historical Cathar sites. La Scierie's location makes it a perfect choice for outdoor activities in summer and winter. There are abundant walks and cycle paths, for climbers the Ariege climb sites are quiet and easily accessible, and ski resorts are only a short drive away. The gites are situated on the South side of the Mill House, and benefit from wireless internet access. Each gite has its own independent patio and garden area with patio furniture and BBQ. The mill is set in three acres of beautiful river bordered land with lots of secluded seating areas to allow guests to completely relax.

Notes on accommodation
La Scierie is a converted water-powered saw mill and as such has numerous areas of open water within the grounds and close by, this should be taken into consideration by anyone booking with small children.

Outside
A 200m long trout filled mill stream flows under the main house and through the gardens where it is dammed to form a natural fresh water swimming pool prior to re-joining the main river. Guests are welcome to swim in this pool, or alternatively can use the quiet community pool only 30m from our front entrance.
Our free ranging chickens add to the charm, and their antics can keep you amused for hours!
A converted barn within the grounds is set up as a games room for use by guests. The adjoining terrace with garden and river views makes a lovely place to enjoy an evening drink.

Coast/Beach
It is possible to enjoy a day trip to the coast from Le Scierie, with the Mediterranean towns of Narbonne and Perpignan two hours east and Biarritz and Bayonne on the Atlantic a three hours drive due west.

Golf
Golf de l'Ariege is a 25 min drive away. For full details please see www.seronais.com

Skiing
The Pyrenees offers beautiful mountain ranges with dramatic scenery and a very real 'French' atmosphere.
Many resorts are located in the heart of the Pyrenees, tucked away in French spa villages with great skiing for all abilities, rivalling many of the French alpine resorts, but without the longer lift queues and higher prices!
There are a number of ski-stations within a 45-minute drive (or train journey) from La Mouline.
Staying in accommodation below the snow line maiximises the enjoyment of a winter holiday as one can enjoy trekking in the often-mild sunny winter climate while taking a break from the colder higher slopes.

Cross-country skiing is also easily available in the Ariegé. The more well known stations include Le Plateau de Beille only a short drive away.

Special interest holidays
The Mill owner is a qualified sports massage therapist and operates a therapy room from the main house. Guests can benefit from an essential oil massage to help them relax into the holiday spirit, or a more intense sports massage to relieve any aching muscles following a day of outdoor activity.
