Notes on accommodation
Our accommodation is to a high standard and quite high tech (home cinema, wi-fi). Because we have five other houses in the area (The Grange, 6 beds/6 baths, FR6047; The Presbytere FR6052, Le Faure FR5960, La Musique FR6134 and the Orangerie, FR6123 all 8 beds/8 baths) and thus are able to have an active team to ensure everything runs smoothly for your benefit – Marielys who looks after house-keeping, Andy who looks after maintenance, pools and gardens, and Adam who looks after all audio-visual, telecoms and internet. Thus we are extremely well positioned (far better than most others) to ensure your holiday is as trouble-free as possible.

Accessibility
Three of the bedrooms are on the ground floor (2 steps down) and much time is usually spent in the kitchen and summer dining room which opens directly onto the pool patio.

Pool, 10 metres by 5, 1 metre deep for half its length, deepening to 2.2 metres, overlooking the amphitheatre of the vineyard, a natural sanctuary for birds and deer. Pool has electrically operated solid cover for security. Vine-covered arbor against rear wall of former chai for shade overlooking pool. Barbecue, table, chairs, parasol on the terrace beside the pool, which is an idyllic spot. 10 sun loungers are provided for sun bathing. Boules, table tennis, area for parking.

Owner profile

Ian Christians, Special Villas & Orpheus & Bacchus

About the owner
My wife works for Bombardier, the global train co. based in Berlin and I live between Berlin, Bordeaux, and Cambridge - difficult to beat. I have been an entrepreneur for 20 years, before that I ran Ellerman Travel & helped found Keycamp Holidays after a brilliant family holiday with our own tent. We own 6 houses near Gensac and Ste. Foy-la-Grande, and I have managed all the restoration projects. My aim is to provide EXPERIENCES, not justholidays, with the best holiday accommodation, - luxury kitchens, all bedrooms en-suite, cinemas, wifi, hi-fi, satellite TV and large securitised pools. I organise the celebrated Orpheus & Bacchus Music & Wine Festival, with concerts in May 21-27(the 4th Hummel Festival), July1-6 (Cambridge University Chamber Orchestra), and Sept 1-6, (Sinfonia d'Amici).

Year purchased: 1994

Why the owner chose a home in this location
We bought Thébot after searching for 6 years. We liked the area and climate, and I have a serious interest in wine. It was our retirement home. It has a great position overlooking its former vineyard, full of nature with birds, deer and the occasional boar. Life doesn't get any more peaceful than here. Lots of vineyards, the River Dordogne nearby, not too touristy. The weather is usually ideal, hot but with occasional rain to keep everything green. And of course the fabulous wines of Bordeaux. Life does not get much better than this! Easily drivable in 1 day from the UK, but now flights from all over to Bordeaux or Bergerac, and of course the green TGV to Libourne. Very well connected!

Unique benefits of the property
Peace and tranquillity, nature at close hand. Kitchen to dining room to pool is just a few yards. Extra bathroom installed in 2009. We seek to provide traditional living with high tec. All modern technology, wifi, satellite, home cinema, iPod connections. Superb kitchen for cooking enthusiasts, American fridge etc. Table tennis and use of nearby tennis court. Ste. Foy close by. A friend who lives 400m away is happy to let my clients use her tennis court - a bottle of good white burgundy in compensation. Options include mini-bus rental, chef, maid service, exceptional wine cellar (burgundies and Bordeaux at great prices), a DVD library for the exceptional big screen (10 DVDs per pack).
