A former blacksmith's forge built in the mid-nineteenth century, the house has all you need for comfort and convenience on your holiday. The ground floor extends to the entire length and breadth of the house. This was where the blacksmith would have originally worked, and the stone jambs by the front door still have notches which would have allowed carts to pass through. It has now been converted into a large kitchen and dining area with a modern fitted kitchen at the far end and a large space for dining at the front. Here, you can sit and plan your day at the table while having breakfast. Later in the day, meals can be prepared and served in comfort. The outside courtyard has a barbecue and a large table and chairs for you to eat al fresco. In addition, there is a separate WC/shower room, added in 2008 for extra convenience.

Owner profile
About the owner
I am a teacher who enjoys travelling and love the Languedoc area. I enjoy peaceful, relaxing holidays with the option of venturing out or lounging around.
Year purchased: 2008
Why the owner chose a home in this location
I started visiting Carcassonne and the surrounding area in the mid-90s and I absolutely love it! There are so many things to see and do: Cathar castles, wonderful vineyards, great walks, picturesque villages and the coast is only a 45minute drive away.
Unique benefits of the property
The house is in a typical French village, with local bakery, butcher, groceries and tabac. The Moureau winery is very close by, which sells excellent Minervois red and rosé. The spectacular medieval city of Carcassonne is 15 minutes' drive away and there are great walks from the property itself. It is a great place to relax and read a book with plenty of scope for more active pursuits.
