Our lovely farmhouse has been renovated whilst retaining its rustic charm. There are 4 bedrooms and 3 shower/bathrooms. The house overlooks farmland and woodland with views down the valley to the Pyrenees. There is a terrace on the eastern side of the house where you can eat croissants in the glorious morning sunshine. As the sun goes overhead you will want to move to the shaded abri (barn) attached to the house where the energetic can play table tennis. From the barn, steps lead up to the swimming pool. This is in a beautiful hillside setting sheltered by old buildings on two sides but with open views of the valley. The west facing terrace here is ideal for sun downers after lazy day on holiday.

Changeover day
Saturday is changeover day. Arrive after 4pm and leave before 10am. This can be flexible during non peak times.

Living Rooms: Large sitting room with TV, DVD player, CD player, two sofas, wood burning stove set in decorative fireplace, large selection of games, books, CDs and DVDs. Green oak opening into dining room (sits 10 easily) creating an L shaped living area. Wifi access.

Notes on accommodation
Ceiling fans/free standing fans for each bedroom. Electric radiators/paraffin heaters if needed. Wifi broadband available - bring your own laptop.

Accessibility
Step up into hall. The bedrooms are upstairs. There is a flight of steps to the swimming pool which make this less suitable for toddlers.

Outside
The east terrace opens an area of grass which is mown and this in turn opens on onto our hayfield. The private saline swimming pool is 10x5m with a roman end and has an electric cover for security. It can be heated (supplement may be charged for use of this out of season). There is poolside furniture including a large parasol, and a table/chairs for each terrace. There is a Weber charcoal barbecue. The table tennis table can be used in the covered barn. Dart board and table football table available.

Coast/Beach
Biarritz is approximately 2 hours drive away with fantastic surfing beaches along the atlantic coastline.

Golf
In Lannemezan (20 minutes), there is an 18 hole golf course which is acknowledged to be the best in the area. It is set in 40 hectares with mature trees and stunning views of the Pyrenees.

Skiing
The ski resorts of St Lary Soulan, Piau Engaly, Peyragudes and La Mongie are 60-90 minutes drive away.

Travel
Toulouse airport is 1 hour 15 minutes drive (Easyjet from Gatwick and Bristol, BMIbaby from Manchester, BA from Heathrow, Jet2 from Belfast, Edinburgh and Leeds). Pau airport is 1 hour 15 minutes drive. Lourdes airport is 50 minutes drive (Ryanair from Stanstead during the ski season). Calais is 11 hours drive away. St Malo is 8 hours drive away.

Distances
250m to local restaurant (walking distance) which serves delicious pizzas in the evenings.
2.5km to nearest shop/charcuterie/tennis court.
4.5km to Castelnau Magnoac which has a supermarket and all usual amenities of a small town.

Further details
The markets in Lannemezan (Wednesdays), Trie sur Baise (Tuesdays) and Castelnau Magnoac (Saturdays) have many local producteurs and are highly recommended. There are many restaurants within a 20 minute radius where you can sample the local specialities of duck, foie gras, brebis cheese. It is an excellent area for cycling or mountain biking. There is superb hiking or white water rafting in the Pyrenees, less than an hour's drive away.

Booking notes
Booking must be by email or phone and confirmed in writing, accompanied by a non-refundable deposit of 25% of holiday rental total. Full payment must be sent 8 weeks in advance along with a fully refundable damage deposit of £250.

We are an English family with two teenage children who live in Kent.

Why the owner chose a home in this location
We came on holiday to this area and kept returning and eventually bought this house! We ended up taking a sabbatical to renovate the house and the children went to a local school where they learned to speak french with a gascogne accent. We love the area for the fabulous climate, the tranquility, rural french lifestyle, the proximity to the mountains and the feeling that you have stepped back in time. Now the house is renovated we want to let others share our idyll.

Unique benefits of the property
We enjoy the peaceful location whilst the children enjoy their freedom. In the day, they roam the woods, cycle along the quiet lanes or simply play in the pool. In the evenings they love walking to the nearby restaurant for a pizza without their parents!
