Built in the late 18th century to serve the adjacent chateau, this restored former watermill retains many original features including the millhouse and a 100m watercourse, now converted into a landscaped games area. Le Moulin is set within an immense 9,000sqm (two acres) of grounds, oodles of space for football, table tennis, trampolining, barbecuing - and relaxing.
The secluded 11x5m (33x15ft) shared pool has an open, south-facing location which means the 80sqm of poolside terracing and relaxation area receives uninterrupted sun from sunrise to sunset. You won't need to jump into a car every time you want a baguette - the bakery, post office, supermarket, chemist, restaurant, bar, hairdressers, butchers and fishmongers - even a French language school - are all within five minutes walk. A shaded and private breakfast/barbecue patio is located immediately outside the gite.

Outside
9,000sq.m (two acres) of land includes 40sq.m of poolside terracing with six sun loungers plus an adjacent 40sqm of shaded relaxation area. Each gite has its own terrace with table, chairs and barbecue facilities.
Coast/Beach
The nearest Mediterranean beaches are an easy 40 minute drive along the autoroute des deux mers.
Travel
Le Moulin is 10 minutes drive to Carcassonne airport which serves an ever-increasing number of countries and towns. 2010 will see services to Stansted, Bournemouth, East Midlands, Liverpool, Leeds and Edinburgh in the UK; Dublin, Shannon and Cork in Ireland; Brussels in Belgium and Frankfurt in Germany. Airport pick-ups available but to get the most from your holiday we would suggest hiring a car. Carcassonne has direct train services to Paris, Marseilles, Toulouse and Quillan in the Pyrenees.
Distances
Seven kilometres to UNESCO world heritage medieval city of Carcassonne. Three kilometres to UNESCO world heritage Canal du midi. Five kilometres from 125km of mountain-bike trails in nearby village of Aragon. Twenty minutes drive to beautiful Black Mountains - fantastic for walking and mountain-biking.

Villegailhenc has fantastic local facilities, so there is no pressure to get in your car on a daily basis, there is a bakers with daily baked croissants, baguettes, wholemeal breads, cakes and so forth, a reasonably priced supermarket, butchers, tabac, wine cave, dentist, hairdressers, doctors and a weekly fruit/vegetable market on a Wednesday morning. There is also a restaurant/bar in the village which offers a la carte and also pizzas. Nearest cashpoint at Villemoustaussou, two km.

The final balance is payable one month before the visit. We don't ask for a deposit but ask that any breakages are paid for or items replaced.
PLEASE NOTE: We have one friendly dog and three cats - please let us know if you don't like animals!
