We have arranged La Bastide as three fully equipped self-catering gites: farmhouse, grange and cottage. Each has access to the large swimming pool. They can be rented individually, or the farmhouse gite and grange gite linked together to make one large holiday house, or the whole property - ideal for a larger family reunion. We live on the edge of the property - out of your way but on hand if you need us. To make our gites as affordable for couples as for families we offer lower rates for couples in farmhouse and grange. We are just 1¼ hours from both Toulouse (Easyjet etc) and Carcassonne (Ryanair) so particularly convenient for fly-drive clients.

Notes on accommodation
Rentals include all linen and pool towels. Separate laundry-room. All properties have French and UK satellite TV, DVD players, radio/CD and plenty of DVDs.

Accessibility
The cottage is suitable for wheelchair users.
Outside
La Bastide stands in 4.5H of meadows and maquis with direct access to the woods beyond. All clients have access to the large 12x6m pool. Volleyball, ping-pong, babyfoot, boules, swings etc. There is a covered parking. Each property has a terrace with sun-loungers and barbecue. The pool is protected by an approved child-proof enclosure, much safer than the alarms found at many gites.
Coast/Beach
2 hours drive to the Med.
Golf
The 'Golf des Etangs de Fiac' course, designed by a British architect, an attractive 18 hole par 71 course (5810 metres) lies on the Lavaur plane 15 minutes from La Bastide. Its restaurant is good enough to attract non-golfers and the lunch is extraordinary value.
Travel
Toulouse (Easyjet and other low-cost airlines, Air France and scheduled airlines) 1¼ hours. Carcassonne (Ryanair) 1¼ hours. Car hire is recommended. 9 hours driving time from Calais.
Distances
Puycalvel (village shop) 1km. Lautrec (shops, bars, restaurants) 7km. Castres (major supermarkets, many restaurants) 17km. Toulouse and Carcassonne both 70km.

Ian and Jos are retired hoteliers (Jos a rosetted cook). We moved here in 2000 and live on the edge of the property, out of your way but on hand if you need us.

Why the owner chose a home in this location
We wanted to live in France and have a retirement interest and gites capitalised on our hospitality experience. We did not want to live in a prime tourism area (too crowded in the season), needed to be handy for low-cost flights to UK, so chose the Tarn - easily accessible but unspoiled and unbusy. We were also captivated by La Bastide's peaceful setting in its small wooded valley facing South with great views and immediate access to the country-side.
