Notes on accommodation
The properties are well suited for families with children of all ages. We have 4 girls and have taken our holidays at 'Louis Guilloux' for the last 9 years. The pool is alarmed so if a small child were to fall in an alarm would sound. The pool area can only be accessed through a double locked gate or through a lockable door at the rear of the garage. The property is extremely well equipped with ample crockery, glassware, cutlery, utensils, pots, pans, dishes, coffee machine, blender - much more than I can list here. We have stayed at other accommodation had not had enough sun beds, matching glasses, insufficient plates, pans and such like but you will not find that at our property as we have equipped it for ourselves with what we as a family of 6 (and up to 10/11 with friends and other family members) need for an enjoyable holiday. The cottages are similarly well equipped and are located in a small hamlet just outside the village.
Accessibility
The property, Louis Guilloux, is suitable for the less able bodied and wheelchair users being that it has a ground floor double bedroom and bathroom. Easy wheel chair access can be gained to the interior of the property through the garage. Hortensia and Primrose do not have ground floor bedrooms. The stairs in Hortensia and Primrose are steep so may not be suitable for older guests or those with mobility problems.
Outside
Louis Guilloux is accessed through lockable double gates, the front garden has a lawned area (with swing set, slide and trampoline), gravel driveway (parking for 2/3 cars) and a planted rockery area. There is an 8 person picnic table. The rear garden is accessed through a double locked gate or a lockable door at the rear of the garage. There is a lawned area with apple trees for shade. The pool is 7m in diameter and a maximum of 1.4m deep with a large paved terrace with 6/8 sun loungers, to one side is a small wooden deck with patio set ideal for enjoying a midday aperitif while the kids are in the pool. The main outside eating area is a large wooden decking with an 8 person dining table. To the side of this is a stone built wood/charcoal BBQ. The swimming pool at the cottages is set on a sun deck looking over the large lawned play area with swings and badminton net & a gravel drive with lots of parking. There are plenty of country lanes to explore either on foot or using pedal power.
Coast/Beach
The coast is 10-15 minutes with a plethora of white sandy beaches and secluded coves. The perfect family holiday. Our favorite beach is in Brehec, 15 minutes away - a great family beach, with fine golden sand, crystal clear sea and rock pools. There are bars, a pizzeria, creperie and restaurant. We've spent many happy days on this beach! Other great beaches are in Binic, St Quay, Palus, Paimpol - loads to chose from. Boat & fishing trips are available in St Quay, Paimpol and the Ilse de Brehat.
Golf
There are a number of golf courses accessible within a 30 to 60 minute drive. In the house is a map which lists all the golf courses in Brittany together with a contact number for reservations.
Travel
It couldn't be easier to travel to Brittany. Daily ferry crossings from Portsmouth, Poole and Plymouth with Brittany Ferries (we can offer very good discounts off all crossings). The of port Roscoff (45 miles), St Malo (70 miles), Cherbourg (180 miles), Caen (160 miles) 7 Le Havre (220 miles) are all easily accessible through good road links. Daily flights by carriers such as Ryanair and Flybe serve airports at Brest (60 miles), Dinard (65 miles), Rennes (75 miles) and Nantes (180 miles).
Distances
The properties are situated just outside the village centre of Pommerit le Vicomte, a short walk or very quick car ride. Guingamp is 5 miles and is the nearest large town with an excellent market, medieval buildings and designer shopping, as well as several large supermarkets. The coastal towns of St Brieuc, Binic, St Quay, Paimpol, Perros Guriec, Ilse de Brehat etc are all easily reached. The medieval town of Dinan is 60 miles and the Mont St Michel 90 miles. Many great places of interest.
Further details
In the village of Pommerit le Vicomte there is a supermarket, butchers, charcuterie, bakers, bars, tobacconist, pharmacy, veterinary surgery, dentist, church, boulodrome, football pitch, park and hairdressers. A 5 mile drive away are all the facilities of a large town, Guingamp, multiple supermarkets, banks, shopping, outdoor market, a multitude of great restaurants. Babysitting service with a local registered child minder available by arrangement. The pool is usually available between May and September.

Owner profile
About the owner
I live in West Yorkshire with my husband, 4 children, our 6 year old pet Staffie and an 2 year old Shih Tzu (what a combination!). My husband and I are both self employed, but spend most of our holidays in France, where we have made many friends, English and French and love the culture and way of life. Despite what people say about the old English / French rivalries, the French really love the English particularly those who are willing to make an effort. There is nothing better than sharing a bottle of wine (or 3, 4, 5!) with a French family at one of Brittany's many summer 'fetes' and trying to converse in whatever pigeon French you have. It's great walking to the bakers everyday for the best bread and freshest croissants. The English cannot make bread like the French! Vive la difference!
Year purchased: 2000
Why the owner chose a home in this location
We love Brittany and the Cote D'Armor in particular, its a fantastic coastline very similar to the rugged Cornish Atlantic coast. It's not a boring coastline - not mile after mile of sandy beaches but little bays and coves, rock pools and great snorkeling. Go in June/early July for the best spider crabbing you'll ever see. My husband's personal best was 25 eating crabs in 40 minutes. What a night that was! All our neighbour's gorging on fresh crab, with chilled Muscadet, crisp French bread and mayonnaise. It doesn't get better than that! Pommerit is a great traditional village with a good selection of facilities. In land but only 15 minutes from the coast and near to large towns for better shopping and choice.
Unique benefits of the property
We bought the property for our family holidays - our 4 girls are now aged 10, 13, 14 and 16, but have been holidaying in Brittany for the last 10 years. So is geared up for that - families with children of all ages. Perfect for a family or more than one family. We always have people coming to stay - other friends and our family. The property rarely has less than 10 people and never less than 6 - so we equipped it to ensure that if 10 people are staying they can be fed, watered and put to bed! Every summer for the last few years we've had a pig roast for our neighbors and friends - 30-40 people.
