Maison Camu is a beautifully renovated farmhouse, restored to a very high standard, its luxurious interior, modern equipment and comforts combined with period features make this an excellent, characterful holiday home. Camu is very spacious inside and out, with the newly beautifully landscaped garden plus pool that can be heated if required, all situated in peaceful countryside. House Services - babysitting, meals and transport plus Adventure Activities such as pot holing, canyoning, climbing, rafting and canyoning are also available. The history and heritage of the Pyrenees is all around and the Côte Basque just an hour's drive away. Maison Camu is perfectly suited to winter and summer lets, an ideal base for one large or two smaller families or perhaps of group of friends getting together to relax and have fun.

Notes on prices
Price includes linen and towels (fresh set each week).
Heating is charged extra in the winter months.
Pool heating is charged at 200 EUR per week.

Changeover day
The changeover day is Saturday in the high season. Arrival time is between 4-7pm and departure is 10am.

Notes on accommodation
Maison Camu is very suited to children and infants, the TV includes UK satellite channels, there is a DVD player and PlayStation. There is a lovely children's attic room, lots of space inside and out, pool, located on a quiet road no awkward steps and a secondary lounge/children's indoor play area. Additional camp beds are available (supplement applies).
Accessibility
Although Maison Camu has not been especially adapted for wheelchair users, there is ground floor living space, including a bedroom and bathroom.
Outside
In the garden there is a 120m2 decked terrace with hardwood furniture and chairs, a barbecue, overlooking an enclosed walled garden which has recently been landscaped and also a heated, above-ground 9 x 4m pool with landscaped and decked surroundings to resemble a conventional pool. The pool is protected with an alarm. (Pool heating is charged extra)
Coast/Beach
The nearest beaches are on the Cote Basque at Biarritz or St Jean de Luz, well worth the trip as these two authentically Basque towns are famous for their fine boutique shops and restaurants, just soak up their relaxed ambiance. To the north of Biarritz there are many other beaches to investigate, especially Hossegor, one definitely not to be missed with its vibrant atmosphere and excellent surf.
Golf
There is a 12 hole Golf Course at Salies-de-Bearn which is 15-20 minute drive away or within 50-60 minutes drive of several courses on the Cote Basque, plus 2 courses near Pau including Pau Golf Club, continental Europe's first course, built in 1856 by a resident Scotsman.

Maison Camu is in a small hamlet just 3km away from Sauveterre which is a cliff top setting high above the Gave d'Oloron from where you can see the famous fortified medieval bridge. There is a selection of local shops and restaurants in the village. Neighbouring Salies-de-Bearn is approx 10km and Navarrenx approx 15km.
Further details
This region is known as the 'Béarn des Gaves', where the mountain streams from the Ossau and Aspe valleys converge to form the famous Gave d'Oloron, known for exceptional salmon fishing (the world championship comes here every year) and, for thrill-seekers, rafting and kayaking. The region is also famous for its abundance of heritage, especially châteaux (eg at nearby Aren and Laas) and bastides (medieval fortified towns).
Neighbouring Salies-de Bearn is a larger town with more by way of shops and restaurants, it is a genteel town, ideal for those seeking thermal cures and relaxation. There is a splendid Moorish-style casino in the town, it is a beautiful place to stroll along the narrow back streets with their steep-gabled houses, or you could take a gondola trip along the river in summer.
The location of Maison Camu will satisfy mountain-lovers as much as beach enthusiasts. The Haut-Béarn is a wonderful landscape that forms a natural boundary between France and Spain. It is a haven for outdoor pursuits. Two beautiful river valleys – d’Ossau and d’Aspe – offer great walking/hiking, mountain biking and, in Spring, good white-water potential. Parasailing, rock-climbing, horse-riding and fishing are also popular. Skiing is possible at nearby stations such as Gourette
A short drive east is the stylish and compact city of Pau. Pau has an ‘upmarket’ feel about it. There is thriving café and bar life plus plenty of opportunity for boutique shopping, notably along the rues des Cordeliers and Serviez. Pau also has its own château (and birthplace of King Henri IV). Pau hosts a horse-racing event and Formula 3 street race every year.
