Located in central Brittany there are a number of golf courses within easy driving distance.
Travel
There are a number of ports close to La Prenessaye: St Malo is about 60 minutes away and Caen about 2-3hours - we are about 4 hours from Le Harve and 6 - 8 hours drive from the eastern ports. You can fly to either Dinard or Rennes and hire a car. We are 60 minutes from these airports.
Distances
Dinan (50 min), Josslin (20 min), St Malo (60 min), Auray (60 min) plus many others (a range of literature is provided in the cottage). The Bretons are very proud of their Celtic history and have retained the character of many old towns. Don't be fooled by some of the big towns. At their heart the old quarters are truly amazing, for example Caen and Rennes.

Guest comments
"There are lots of lovely unspoilt walks through fields and woodland. We took advantage of the kayaking - great fun. We enjoyed BBQ's and then sat admiring the stars (and drank more wine). We have been to France many times but this holiday gave us a real taste of rural France. We would definitely return and also highly recommend it". Sandra and family.
"The setting of the cottage is stunning, offering tranquil countryside, yet 10 mins from the town. The cottage is spacious and well equipped, providing very comfortable accommodation. The pool is a bonus for the children". Teresa and family.
"A beautiful cottage in an idyllic setting. Excellently furnished and finished to a high standard but still in keeping with the Breton style. A lot of effort was put in to ensure that we had a wonderful 10 days - we couldn't have enjoyed it more!" Clark and family.
We asked what was the worst aspect of their holidays. The response was the same in all cases: "having to go home".

About the owner
I'm married to my partner Diana and we have three adult children. To my friends I'm Tony and papi to my grandchildren. I spend winter in Macclesfield,England and summer in France at our house in Brittany. Since retiring I now regard meeting our guests and ensuring they have a wonderful holiday as my new vocation.
The house, is a 17th century longere with large oak beams and many quirky features. Its divided into 2 units that can accommodate upto 12 guests (if requested). The gardens offer a swimming pool with terrace, boules pitch, swings and lawned areas.
La Prenessaye is ideally located with many activities for all the family and friends.
Year purchased: 2004
Why the owner chose a home in this location
We have always wanted a place in France following many happy and memorable holidays with family and friends over the last 30 years. Brittany has held favour because of its easy access form the ferry ports, its beautiful country side and the character of the Breton villages and towns. The weather is pleasant, in summer it can reach the high twenties/low thirties and therefore does not leave you drained or searching for shade as is the case in many other regions of France or other countries in Europe.
The location of our house is rural but sufficiently close to the main services and attractions allowing you to shop, relax, visit etc. with ease - driving on the un-cluttered roads of Brittany is pleasurable anyone who has visited this area before will appreciate what I mean.
Unique benefits of the property
We enjoy visiting the coast but find locations inland have more to offer. Within the locality of our house one will find activities such as: marked circular walks 8 to 25 km (maps provided), VTT marked cycle routes, fishing (fly and course), horse riding at the Equestrian Centre and kayaking on the river Lie. Also there are a number of top class golf courses close by. There is a bar in La Prenessaye and many restaurants nearby. Festivals of music, dance and the arts are organised by the Cideral through the year. Our house is situated in a very peaceful and tranquil location that you will find appealing. You may wish to simply chill and read or go visiting and return to BBQ dinner and share " l'ambiance" in the evening with friends and family.
