The beautiful house centres round a large fully equipped kitchen. Your meals can be served on an antique rosewood and mahogany circular table with six carved chairs. As you enter through the front door from the orchard garden the long central hallway gives access to all the rooms.

Changeover day
We prefer Saturday change over in the main season but are willing to accommodate other days when possible. We ask for arrivals to be after 3.00pm and departures before 10.00am to allow for thorough cleaning.

Bedrooms: The double bedroom is ground floor and has a antique mahogany wardrobe and a large chest of drawers. The double window gives a garden view
The twin bedroom has bunk beds and a single bed. It also has an original oak floor and full length picture window
Bathrooms: The recently modernised bathroom offers a full size bath, a walk in shower cubicle, wash- basin, toilet and washing machine. There is also a second separate WC on the ground floor.
Kitchen: The kitchen is very well equipped with an electric oven, gas hob, extractor, dishwasher, fridge.
Living Rooms: The large lounge with period leather chairs, sofa, and double bed settee has a beautiful marble fireplace and hearth and is a very comfortable room to relax in. Or you can watch a video or DVD. Lots of titles and board games available.

Towels and linen are provided. The property is meticulously cleaned at the end of each let. Cleaning products and vacuum cleaner provided.

Notes on accommodation
The garden is completely enclosed and is ideal for children and pets. There is a climbing frame, table tennis table and lots of outdoor games available. The owners may be on site in a completely detached cottage. Meals can be pre-ordered and advice offered on local vintners and other attractions.

Accessibility
The accommodation is all on the ground floor although there are two internal steps with a hand rail.

Outside
There is an outdoor table,chairs and parasol. Also an outdoor electric point for the electric BBQ or your docking station etc. The garden is solely for the use or the guests but occasionally the gardener may need access with guests agreement. The orchard offers plums, peaches, cherries, apples, depending on the season. You can help yourself. There's also a herb and salad garden. The outdoor steps to the cellar are fenced off for safety.

Coast/Beach
The River Cher at Chabris (10 mins drive) has a beach and river paddling, swimming. There's also an indoor pool here. Villentrois (20 mins drive) has a big swimming lake and beach with outdoor facilities. Montrichard (30 mins drive) has a big riverside leisure area and is also a lovely town to visit. Valencay, (15 mins drive) has a beautiful outdoor pool and child's pool with sun bathing lawns around.

Golf
Golf courses within an hours' drive. Tennis court in the village.

Special interest holidays
Wine appreciation half day, day or more.Our house is in an area of appellation controlled wines and there are many to choose from. The local vintners are only too happy to show you round their vineyards. Most of them have recommendations in 'Le Guide Hachette de France', a book where top wines are published.We are also close enough to Sancerre and Vouvray for day trips.

Travel
The nearest airport is Tours (one hour away). Limoges is about a two hours drive. The house is 350 miles from Calais and you can drive most of the way on the Autoroute if you choose. Paris is two and a half hours easy drive.

Distances
We are in the village so only short walks to bakery, butcher, post office, Bar/restaurant, Hair and nail salon. Also the Secretary at the local Mairie is very friendly and helpful and has Tourist Information. Many of the main Loire Chateaux are within an easy drive, from 20 mins to 2 hours drive away. Eg Valencay, Chenonceau, Chambord, Cheverney.

Further details
Very good fishing in local river. Cheap permit available in village.
Supermarkets within easy drive (15 mins). Nearest town, Chabris, has banks, restaurants, (Pizzeria, Creperie), Saturday market, English speaking vet, Church with regular services and delightful river walks. Lots of places to launch your own canoes along the rivers Cher and Loire.

We ask for one third of total cost as a deposit and we send you our information pack. final amount is due 6 weeks before holiday starts. payment can be made by cheque or direct bank transfer. Please ask if you wish to pay by another method.

About the owner
I am a retired teacher and my husband Steve is a retired civil engineer. We have two grown up sons Chris and Tim. When the lads were toddlers, we started going camping in the summer holidays. Once we'd visited France it became our firm favourite destination. The year we camped in the Loire valley was fantastic! What a holiday. We had so much to see, the weather was great and the lads loved it. The chateaux, the open spaces, the clean air, the vineyards are the places to visit and relax. We decided that this was the place we wanted to retire to and we have finally realised our dream.We bought the properties in 2002. We live in a completely detached cottage within the same grounds as the main house. We're there if you need anything but we don't impinge on your privacy.

Why the owner chose a home in this location
By the summer of 2002, our two teenage sons announced it looked like it would probably be our last family holiday in France so we returned to one of our favourite areas, the Loire valley. It was then we found our 'house of dreams' Maison de Reves in a little village, Varennes sur Fouzon. Maison de Reves had been left empty for some years but was generally in very good condition. We enjoyed the experience of renovating the house whilst keeping its original charm and elegance. From late 2011 we will be retired and will live here in the cottage that shares the same grounds as the main house. This came as a bonus when we bought Maison de Reves. We organise wine tours as well as providing traditional French meals for the guests.

Unique benefits of the property
Maison de Reves is right in the village in a road adjacent to the 'main' road. It is great to get up in the morning and stroll 2 minutes round the corner to get fresh baked bread cakes and croissants.Guests are welcome to share the fruit from the orchard. We have made many friends in the village who are always there to help if we have any problems. The village is on the wine route so it is an easy drive to the local vineyards to sample the new wines and stock up at the right price. There is a Super U 10 minutes drive away. From the house you can drive to all the famous chateaux, or the charming medieval towns. There are lovely gentle walks locally.If you want more action, shopping and night life, then Tours is a bustling city with character and only an hour's drive away.
