Gite abundant in character with exposed stone walls, beams and original features. Formerly a wine producing farm, evident from its grape vines, wine press and stone outbuildings. Set in 1 acre of grounds with attractive flowers, shrubs and trees making it ideal to chill out in France's second sunniest region but still offering welcome respite under shady trees in typically French style with a glass of wine and a good book. For the more energetic there is table tennis and boules. Great location to explore the many chateaux, wine routes, castles and French markets all nearby. Just 3 miles away is Moncontour with its cable water skiing and multiple sports area together with lakeside beach and restaurant. The quality of light, warm air, fields of sun flowers and the shuttered siesta-silence of the farmhouses provide the first exciting promises of the south west of France.

Owner profile
Graham, owner of Gite 'Au Soleil'
About the owner
Together with my wife Stephanie, we purchased our French property in June 2008 and have worked hard to create our Gite 'Au Soleil' in order to help us earn a modest living. We live here on site with our small dog Jaykay which we recently provided a home for after he was rescued by friends, having being abandoned along the roadside and was close to death. We also have a cat called Felix and they are both full of character and very loving.
Why the owner chose a home in this location
We chose our property in the village of St Clair having fallen in love with rural France and the regions fantastic sunny climate. Property prices are very reasonable in this area and the local french people are polite, warm and friendly...even the teenagers. Crime is almost unheard of where we live and for the first time in years I am enjoying driving again on the quiet French roads.
Unique benefits of the property
The property enjoys an edge of village location within relaxing and beautiful countryside where during the summer months there are wonderful fields of sunflowers. You need only to make a very short drive to local villages and towns to pick up your everyday needs. For your convenience deliciously fresh French bread and croissants are delivered daily to the property(except Wednesdays). The area has numerous places of interest and things to do but the properties appealing garden will tempt those just looking to chill-out. A warm welcome awaits our guests!
