Maraussan is a pretty village, less than a 10 minute drive from the historic city of Béziers in the Languedoc region of the South of France. Beautiful Mediterranean beaches lie only 20 minutes away. The same distance inland brings you to the National Park of the High Languedoc with its mountains, gorges and spectacular riverside villages. The Canal du Midi threads through the area, it's length shaded by plane trees. Famed for its wine production, the Languedoc is studded with Chateaux and Domaines offering wine tastings. The many villages host markets selling local produce. There is a flower market every Friday in the old centre of Béziers. The village of Maraussan offers thriving small shops including bakers, butchers grocers, a seafood specialist and a delicatessen. There is also a supermarket. There are bars, pizzerias and restaurants including one of the most renowned in the area. Among the many activities available locally are water sports, hiking, cycling, horse riding and golf.

Notes on prices
Prices are for rental of the gite per week in UK pounds. We also offer shorter stays throughout the year apart from August.
Changeover day
Changeover day is flexible. Please depart by 10am on the day of departure and arrivals are between 4pm and 7pm.

Bedroom with twin beds. Separate shower room with WC. Kitchen/dining area with fridge/freezer, dining table, table top oven, microwave, two ring hob, kettle, toaster and microwave. There is a DVD player in the comfortable sitting area. The proprietor has a substantial number of DVDs available to the guests at a cost of 1 euro per DVD per length of stay. Electric heating and fans are provided in every room. |

Towels, including pool/beach towels are provided.
An iron and ironing board are available on request.
The proprietor will do clothes washing at a cost of 5 euros per load. A washing line is provided.

Outside
Each gite has its own private area with table, chairs, parasol and barbeque . They have been designed with a concentration on comfort and privacy. The shared pool is 5x6m with loungers.
Coast/Beach
The busy beach side town of Valras with its many bars, restaurants and small shops is a 20 minutes drive away. Serignan Plage and Portiragnes Plage both have miles of white sand and rustic beach restaurants, where you can hire beds and parasols. They are also 20 minutes away.
All these resorts offer a variety of watersports including jet ski hire, banana boats, sailing, windsurfing etc.
Golf
Beziers has an 18 hole golf course 20 minutes drive away.
Travel
A choice of airports are available to you; Beziers/Vias 20 minutes, Perpignan 50 minutes, Carcassonne 50 minutes and Montpellier 50 minutes.
Distances
The spectacular hillside village of Roquebrun overlooking the River Orb is a 25 minute drive. There is a beach on the river for swimmers and sunbathers and the village is also one of the centres for canoeing and kayaking. Other riverside beaches, closer to Maraussan, are found near Cazouls 10 minutes and at Cessenon sur Orb 20 minutes. There are beaches and deep pools and more canoeing at the 'Reals' before Cessenon 15-20 minutes.
Further details
The walled town of Pezenas with it's extensive Saturday morning market is 25 mins away. The Grecian town of Agde, sitting on the river where the Herault meets the canal is 20 minutes away.
Just beyond it, where the river runs down to the sea, is the Grau d'Agde with its floating seafood restaurants.
The area is historically very rich. The ancient hill town, the Oppidum d'Enserune, with it's startling views over the drained lake at Montady, is 15 minutes away. Very close by is the Malpas tunnel, Europe's first navigable canal tunnel.
The series of locks transporting the canal's traffic from the River Orb to the Canal du Midi, Les Neuf Ecluses, is at Beziers (less than 10 mins).
There is a large animal safari park at Sigean which ends with a walk by a lake with pelicans, flamingos and many different breeds of waterfowl.
Vias Plage and Cap d' Agde have large theme parks with rides catering for all ages. Cap d' Agde also has water parks. For the less adventurous it has a considerable port bustling with many waterside bars and restaurants. The sand on its expansive beaches is considered to be exceptionally fine and white.
Booking notes
Payment: deposit of 35% is required with the booking, and the balance is due 10 weeks prior to arrival. We also require a refundable security deposit of £150 payable in cash on arrival. This security deposit (or part thereof) will be rturned to you on the day of departure.
