Les Allains is a newly and beautifully converted barn situated within the Parc Naturel Regional des Marais du Cotentin et du Bessin, in a peaceful and relaxing rural setting. We are 45 minutes drive from Cherbourg, 20 minutes from beautiful sandy beaches. Cycling, kayaking, horse riding and lovely walks are all within a short distance. Lithaire the local village is a 2 minute drive and La Haye du Puits and its shops are a 5 minutes drive.

Notes on prices
As we only rent the barn between June and the end of August we have a fixed price of 425 euros.
Changeover day
We have no preferred changeover day, but this will depend on other bookings so please enquire before you book your crossing.
Accommodation
| Bedrooms: | Bedroom 1 with double bed. Bedroom 2 with daybed but can be changed to double or 2 singles. Double sofa bed in living area. |
| Bathrooms: | Bathroom downstairs with bath/shower, sink and wc. |
| Kitchen: | Very well equipped kitchen with oven and hob, fridge, toaster, coffee maker, microwave and washing machine. |
| Living Rooms: | Lovely open plan living area with 2 comfortable sofas one of which is a double sofa bed. A wood burning stove, TV/DVD player, stereo with I Pod connection and a dining table seating up to 6. |
| Other: | The second gallery bedroom is also what we call the chill out area. There are two single beds, an extensive library if you've forgotten a book and a good selection of teenage and children's books. There is a stereo and we can put the TV/DVD up stairs. |

Included in the price are linen, towels and cleaning after you leave and in the middle of your stay if you have booked for 2 weeks. |

Notes on accommodation
Electric heaters are in all rooms and are included in the price.
The barn is suitable for children of all ages, there is a stair gate at the top of the stairs for safety. We can provide a travel cot and linen for babies and a low bed for toddlers.
Accessibility
There are no steps or slopes on entering the property or the barn and the sofa bed downstairs could be used if someone was unable to go upstairs.
Outside
The barn has its own garden and patio with BBQ area, it also has its own separate parking for 2 cars. We provide outside furniture including a BBQ, a table and 4/6 chairs, parasol and 2 sunloungers with mattresses. There is a long washing line and pegs.
Coast/Beach
The beautiful sandy beaches of the west coast of the peninsular are 20 minutes by car. The D Day Landing beaches are 25 minutes drive away.
Travel
Cherbourg is our nearest port and is 45 minutes drive. Caen is 1 hour, Le Havre 1 hour 45, Calais 5 hours. A car is recommended.
Distances
Lithaire our local village is a 2 minute drive and La Haye du Puits the nearest town 5 minutes. Bayeux is 45 minutes, Mont St Michelle 1 hour 30, D Day Landing beaches and historic towns 25 minutes, Honfleur 1 hour 30, La Hague and Barfleur 45 minutes. Portbaille and Barnneville Carteret 20 minutes.
Further details
There is a bakery in Lithaire that sells bread, croissants etc, she also sells most essentials and is open every day except Mondays. La Haye du Puits has supermarkets, banks, cafes and many other shops, market day is Wednesday. Most local towns have restaurants serving well priced a la carte meals.

About the owner
I live in London with my husband and two children (not really children though) one is 25 and the other 19 and at university. We also have a dog and a cat. We both work in London but try to get out to the house as much as we can.

Why the owner chose a home in this location
We bought our house because we had friends who have a house in Barneville Carteret and we had stayed with them and really loved the area. We had never been to Normandy before because we had always gone to the south of France but were amazed at how beautiful it is and how easy it is to get there. We have done so much work over the years that we are only now starting to enjoy it as a holiday home, and are looking forward to seeing more of the local area ourselves. We have made a few friends and love to have great big meals with them over a few glasses of wine. Our setting is very peaceful and rural but we are only 2 minutes drive from the nearest village and 5 from the nearest town.
The people of Normady are incredibly friendly and have been so helpful to us over the years.
Unique benefits of the property
We are 45 minutes from the port of Cherbourg and so you can start your holiday almost as you drive off the boat! We have renovated the barn and believe it to be very stylish and tasteful. It is also incredibly comfortable and well equiped. We have a wood burning stove in the living area which is lovely on a chilly evening. We provide a great welcome pack for our guests with wine, water, juice, tea, coffee, bread, butter, jam and milk. Everything is included in the price including lovely bathroom toiletries, towels and linen, the first basket of wood for the stove. We also include cleaning at the end of your stay and after the first week if you are staying for two.
