A sunny, warm, family apartment on the 8th floor of the Le Varet building, 5 mins from shops, restaurants, ski-pass office and ESF meeting points. It overlooks the pistes and resort, part of the huge Paradiski domain. Arc 2000 is linked to the rail terminus at Bourg St Maurice by a free (with ski-pass) 7 minute funicular trip up the mountain and free bus shuttles terminating 150m from the apartment block. Bourg in turn is serviced by the Eurostar snow train from London St Pancras, and TGV and night sleeper trains from Paris. In the ski season there are regular bus services from Geneva airport to the resort. Budget airline fly/drive destinations of Geneva, Chambery, Lyon and Grenoble are all less than 3 hours away. In summer, ski lifts are adapted to carry bikes up the mountain and the Arcabulle chairlift, 15 mins walk from the apartment, goes to the very edge of the dramatic, spectacular and unspoiled Vanoise National Park, which offers lovely walks amidst magnificent scenery.

Notes on prices
Prices are for the property per week in UK Pounds. Bookings of 2 weeks or more attract a 10% discount. 50% rental payable on booking, balance 8 weeks before arrival, plus a £150 security deposit against accidental breakage (not cashed, returned after trip).

Changeover day
Saturday but flexible out of season. Our agent in resort will welcome you in (after 4pm) and check you out (by 10am). He is the first point of contact in unlikely event of problems, including maintenance + offers linen/towel hire and cleaning if required.

Bedrooms: Bedroom area off entrance lobby has bunk beds and additional pull-out bed. Lounge has comfortable twin bed settee.
Bathrooms: Full size bath with shower over, towel rail, wash basin with vanity unit and toilet. Limitless hot water. Hairdryer.
Kitchen: Virtually everything for easy self-catering. Triple hob, oven/grill, George Foreman grill, microwave/oven, slow cooker, raclette, dishwasher, fridge, kettle, croissant-warming toaster, saucepans, casseroles, crockery, cutlery and all kitchen utensils.
Living Rooms: Dining lounge has round table + 5 chairs, three-seater settee (converts to twin beds), fold-up sun chairs, TV/DVD, CD/clock radio, coffee table, adapter for UK mobile chargers, board games including Scrabble, dominoes, cards, some CDs and DVDs, iPod dock.
Other: Two double wardrobes, each with hanging space and shelves. Purpose-built ski unit tidily stores ski-wear, skis, poles, boots, gloves, hats, shoes and accessories with room for luggage on top. South facing balcony overlooking slopes.

Single duvets and English-size pillows provided. Take your own duvet covers, bottom sheets and pillow cases, otherwise linen and towels can be hired in resort from our agent. Cleaning service available at 38 euros or clean it as you would wish to find it.

Notes on accommodation
The apartment block is built sideways into the mountain so that the 8th floor, on which the apartment is situated, gives access onto a groomed piste, 30 seconds up the corridor from the studio front door. Competent skiers can ski in/out; beginners can take lifts to ground floor but still ski directly to short drag lift 150m away which links to entire ski domain. The apartment has central heating plus a wall mounted electric heater in the lounge. Paying Wifi available in apartment via internet Ici or at two internet cafes in resort.

Golf
During summer season (July/August), 18-hole golf course available at Arc 1800, 20 minutes by car or 40 mins by two free shuttle buses.

Skiing
Approximately 425 km of pistes with 175 lifts meeting every level of skiing and boarding ability, including child-friendly boulevard blues, exciting reds, challenging blacks and demanding off-piste from the Aiguille Rouge glacier (3,200m) - ESF guide strongly advised! ESF monitors teach/guide beginners to experts - we can recommend one - and lessons available for children from age 4. Creche facilities, twice weekly night skiing, sledging, snow shoeing, husky dog sledding, ice skating, ice grotto. Snow park at Arc 1600, through-the-trees skiing adventures at Peisey Vallandry and more glacier skiing at La Plagne, via the Vanoise Express cable car link. Lift passes available for Arc 2000, Les Arcs or Paradiski. A weekly Paradiski pass is valid for one day in Val d'Isere or the Trois Vallees, reachable by car or bus. We can arrange for you to buy ski passes at last year's prices and a discount of 10% to 15% on ski-hire and ski-wear in resort.

Travel
Train: Eurostar snow train direct from St Pancras to terminus at Bourg St Maurice; or Eurostar to Paris and then TGV or night sleeper to Bourg.
Fly/drive: Geneva 3 hours by car; Grenoble and Lyon 2.5 hours; Chambery 1.5 hours.
Fly/bus via Geneva: several buses a day during high season; price includes transfer at Bourg to minibus to Arc 2000.
Drive: 11 hours non-stop from Calais. Covered and open air pay parking nearby. Free open air parking served by free shuttle buses, 2 km from apartment.

Apartment to Bourg St Maurice 28km by car or 30 minutes by free shuttle bus/funicular.

Further details
Arc 2000 Winter facilities include new bowling alley with pool tables and sports channel TV; Sherpa for groceries; bars, restaurants, choice of ski/snowboard hire, ESF bureau, ski pass office, pharmacy, cashpoint, post office and newsagent.

You can ski to the bank at Arc 1800.

Adjacent Arc 1950, reached from 2000 by free one-minute gondola ride on the Cabriolet lift, is open during the Summer and Winter seasons and has a bakery, Spar store, wine merchant, ski/snowboard hire in Winter and bike hire in Summer.

Also in the Summer season (July/August), the free shuttles, paying funicular, and paying network of lifts adapted to carry mountain bikes as well as ramblers, link the 4 Arcs villages to each other and to Bourg. Signed and waymarked walks in the breathtakingly beautiful Vanoise National Park can also be reached from the top of the Arcabulle lift. At Arc 1800 there is an 18-hole golf course, tennis, a daily programme of organised events and a clean, supervised and well-maintained open air swimming pool set in wonderful scenery.

Off season (May/June and September-November) there are no resort facilities but, with a car, Spring and Autumn walking can be enjoyed in the Vanoise National Park and adjacent Villaroger Nature Reserve.

At all times of the year there are full shopping and local facilities in Bourg including banks, a Lidl and a large Super U (with petrol station) situated on the road out of Bourg towards Les Arcs, where you can stock up before heading up the mountain.
