A.M. Aug.09 What a blissful place La Vieille Grange is.Early morning swims before the heat of the day gets up; breakfast on the terrace, aperitifs on the swing seat; salad lunches under the giant parasol; an afternoon zizz; and then candlelit dinners under the stars. This is one of the most beautiful gites I have ever stayed in(and I've stayed in some).

F.S. Aug 09 John and Susie, the owners and neighbours, are very welcoming and extremely thoughtful in their approach to letting their beautifully decorated and furnished house. My teenage family had a really good time. I would have no hesitation recommending La Vieille Grange to family and friends.

C.B.Sept 09 A lovely peaceful home with pool. Our family of two adults and three kids really enjoyed our time here. We would recommend this home to all.

S.W July 17 Exceeded expectations in everyway. A superb holiday for all of us ..

K.C. 27/8 What a wonderful place to stay-the best equipped property we have stayed in....

Owner profile

John and Susie Rivers

About the owner
We are in our 60's and consider ourselves semi retired. Our working life in England was split between London and Gloucestershire in the antique jewellery business. Although our French is pretty basic (some more basic than others) we have many french friends and Susie is a local councillor. We thoroughly enjoyed our first full season and met many charming people who were very kind in their comments about La Petite Grange. We like to keep a low profile but are always on hand if needed.

Year purchased: 1980's

Why the owner chose a home in this location
We bought the property 25 years ago as the fulfilment of a dream to have a second home in France. The peace, tranquility and pace of life were compelling attractions as was the gentle rolling countryside and soft limestone buildings. When we decided to move to France permanently we embarked on a major building program, upgrading and extending our original holiday home, which is now a four bedroom gite and converting two barns in the grounds to a one bedroom gite and our two bedroom house. This winter we upgraded and extended the sun terrace around the salt water pool and are considering installing solar heating for the pool thereby making swimming from May to November feasible.
