Situated on a quiet lane that serves just two farms before turning into a grass track. The farmhouse Chez Caro was built with traditional massive stone walls that keep it cool throughout the hot summers. The local stone is called schist and is an attractive pink and grey. The farm house has been renovated sympathetically to accommodate four adults and two children. We offer shared use of the swimming pool, also available in the garden is a barbecue, a large garden table with parasol and chairs for al fresco summer dining, a frame with two children's swings, a hammock and sun loungers for a relaxing holiday.

Owner profile

Caro

About the owner
When we decided to retire to a farm house in France we just fell in love with the scenery, we didn't even consider whether we would get on with our neighbours. How lucky we were that they are so kind and welcoming, putting up with our bad french and assisting us with our restoration project. We have settled into the local community, I facepaint at the chestnut fair and Den is well known as a bibliophile and Citroen addict. We now live in the restored barn opposite Chez Caro and so we are on hand if you have any questions or need help.

Year purchased: 2005

Why the owner chose a home in this location
We love the rugged countryside of the Auvergne the rolling hills, mountains and forests make a very exciting landscape. Den is a keen cyclist and I like discovering the abundant wild flowers and wild life, we both like being within easy reach of a ski resort in the winter months. Despite being only 45minutes from the airport at Rodez it is still a compartively undiscovered part of France and we really enjoy the tranquillity and peace.

Unique benefits of the property
Chez Caro is situated at the end of a little road which peters out into a grassy lane. There is no passing traffic except maybe some cows being herded to a new pasture. It is a very safe environment. We have magnificent views across the deep wooded valleys and yet the land around us is not steep so it is very inviting for walks directly from the house.
