The cottages date back to the 1700's and have retained many traditional features, including wooden beams and stone fireplaces. The renovations have been sympathetic to the old features whilst providing the comforts for modern day living.
Both cottages are situated in an acre and a half of enclosed mature gardens. Arc En Ciel is situated on the edge of a quiet hamlet, allowing you uninterrupted breathtaking views of the rolling countryside. There are two, 2 bedroom detached self contained cottages each sleeping 4-5 people.

Changeover day
Changeover day is Saturday. The admission time into the gites is 4pm with the departure time 10am. If you require alternative arrangements please contact us.

Hibiscus Gite (2 Bedrooms, Sleeps 4)

| This old farmhouse is cosy but spacious, set primarily on one level. It provides you with a comfortable sitting area to relax if you need a break from the sun, or if in winter, then to watch the roaring fire of our traditional wood burning stove beneath the stripped wooden beams. A TV and DVD is also provided. The modern kitchen comprises of a gas cooker, fridge/freezer, microwave, toaster and kettle. There is a pine farmhouse table with 4 chairs. The 2 large bedrooms have oak wooden floors which is typical of the buildings in this region. Bedroom 1 has a double bed and a triple wardrobe. Bedroom 2 has 2 framed single beds and a French style hanging and shelf unit. A further single bed can be arranged if needed. The large tiled bathroom comprises of a modern toilet and sink, with a mirror. The bath has the shower overhead allowing you the option of a refreshing shower or a soak in the bath. There is a washing machine, iron and ironing board available. | |
Notes on accommodation
To allow you to travel light, a highchair, stair-gate and travel cot are available. Please notify us in advance if required.
Outside
Each cottage has a private outdoor sitting/dining area, where you will find a table and 6 chairs, a barbecue and either a gazebo or an umbrella for shade. There is a large fenced garden for communal use which has a 5.5m diameter above ground swimming pool, perfect for cooling down on a hot day. There are a number of outdoor games to entertain the children.
Coast/Beach
A large sporting lake (10 mins by car) has a lovely sandy beach with a protected swimming area. A lifeguard is on duty at all times during the summer season. Several other outdoor activities are available eg Teleski, canoeing and windsurfing.
Golf
There are a number of golf courses to be found in the area all within an hours drive.
Travel
Limoges which is our nearest airport, is approximately 1 hour away. However Bergerac and Bordeaux are also easily accessible. Bordeaux being the furthest at 2.25 hours. Due to our rural location, a car is essential, these can be hired at the airport. If you prefer to drive, the journey south is approximately 7-8 hours from the northern ports.
Distances
We have a couple of small villages within 5-10 minutes drive, they have a bakery, small supermarket, butchers, bank, post office and a couple of restaurants. The larger town of St Yrieix La Perche is 20 minutes by car. It has a variety of shops, large supermarkets and restaurants available. The much larger cities of Perigueux and Limoges are an hour away and are worth a visit.
Further details
We are situated within easy reach of a number of medieval towns, with their stunning architecture and morning markets of local produce they offer a delightful distraction for you.
Arc En Ciel is found on the border of two regions of natural and outstanding beauty, the Dordogne and the Limousin. Both these areas provide a wide variety of opportunities to discover the local attractions. We have two tourist offices nearby which have wealth of information on these regions, the perfect start to your French experience!
Booking notes
A £100 deposit is required to secure a booking with the final balance due 10 weeks prior to arrival. We also require a security bond of 100 euros on arrival, which will be returned to you at the end of the holiday.
