La Joubertie is surrounded by 9 acres of private garden, park and woodland in the beautiful Dordogne countryside. The original Perigordian barn has been tastefully converted into 2 self-catering gites (La Joubertie Gite has 1 double & 1 twin bedroom, the Flexi Gite with 1 double bedroom) plus another additional double room that can be rented with the gites or separately as a B&B room. We have taken care to combine original features with modern conveniences, providing a high standard of accommodation at affordable prices. We enjoy a peaceful countryside environment with the market town of Vergt conveniently near. What could be better? This is a comfortable base to relax and recharge your batteries away from the hustle and bustle of the main tourist areas - yet within easy reach of all major attractions. If you need to keep in contact with home, then Wifi is available in the guest accommodation.

Gite prices are per week/B&B per night in UK Pounds. La Joubertie Gite - £100 discount per week in April, May, June, September and October if only one bedroom required. Flexi-Gite can be hired by the night (minimum 3 nights*) for £75 per night (*except July/August - minimum stay 1 Week). Chambre Rose Bed & Breakfast Minimum 2 night stay.

Equipped with comfy armchairs, a footstool, sofa and a coffee table plus a colour TV with satellite (Sky Freeview) and DVD/CD player. Wifi access available. A library of mostly English DVDs, books and magazines available. Kitchen - fully equipped with a large fridge & freezer, microwave, full electric oven and gas hob with all the equipment one would need to cook a delicious meal or to prepare your lunchtime snacks. Dining area - full sized dining table and chairs that could easily seat 8 when fully extended. Useful if hiring with La Joubertie &/or Chambre Rose as well. Notes on accommodation
All bed linen and towels, including tea towels and pool towels, are provided and included in the price. For our guests staying more than one week, your bed linen and towels will be changed at the beginning of each week. A cot and baby bed linen is available on request, at no extra cost. Each bedroom has a clothes drier and peg. Iron and ironing board are provided. A washing machine is available for occasional use, at no extra cost. A fire extinguisher, fire blanket and smoke alarm are installed in the gites for added safety. Electric heaters in all rooms.
Outside
4 acres of our own private land surrounds the gites giving opportunities for watching bird & wild life - it is not unknown to see deer scrumping around our apple trees! The 8x4m swimming pool is equipped with a safety fence conforming to French safety law, which provides peace of mind and privacy. Although the pool is not heated, the warm Dordogne sun warms the pool to a luscious 28 degrees! Sun loungers, cushions, garden tables and chairs plus parasols are provided on the poolside. The gites and B&B rooms all have their own patio tables, chairs and parasols. BBQs are available for each gite. Boules, badminton and tennis rackets are available at no extra charge.

Les Eyzies, Rouffignac and Montignac (world famous caves of Lascaux) offer a fantastic opportunity to explore pre-history through caves, prehistoric sites and museums.

Owner profile
About the owner
After 30 years in the Fire Brigade Len retired in 2002. Marian continued with her career as a Training Manager for TNT for another 2 years before we decided to go on a little adventure. We thought that we might like a bit of warm weather, so visited the Dordogne one sunny, October weekend. We saw and fell in love with La Joubertie and moved to France "lock, stock and barrel" in March 2004. We have been in "business" for 8 years now and have thoroughly enjoyed hosting our guests, many of whom have returned after experiencing a lovely holiday in our gites. We have met so many interesting people and look forward to meeting more of you next season!

Why the owner chose a guest house in this location
When we first visited, we really had no idea how famous this part of the world was! It is one of the most beautiful departments in France and it is no accident that it has been a popular holiday destination for many years. Our location is perfect for exploring this beautiful region as we are situated in the centre of the Dordogne. Our rural location ensures a bit of peace & quiet away from the hustle and bustle of the main tourists areas but very handy for visiting both Bergerac an Perigueux. Only 40 minutes from Bergerac airport and so close to many of the major tourists attractions. La Joubertie is well placed for visits to chateaux, rivers, medieval towns, caves, museums, markets and shopping. We love it here and we are sure you will too!
