Font Pissarotte is a privately owned house located in the heart of the Dordogne. Recently refurbished to a high standard, it provides very comfortable living with plenty of opportunities to explore this lovely area of France. It has a very private situation in approx two acres of garden which has its own stream and pond at the bottom. Its location close to the village of St. Alvere is ideal as it is convenient to cycle or walk to the village which has restaurants, grocery shop, markets every Monday in the summer, tourist information office, flower shop, three bread shops and fresh vegetable shop and post office and bar tabac. It is also not far away from the tourist hotspots on the river Dordogne and Versere and the vine yards and local chateau which are worth exploring.

Changeover day
Changeover is Tuesday. tenants need to be heading home by 10am, to allow Margaret to come and clean. New tenants are allowed in after cleaning , usually 3pm.
| Bedrooms: | Bedroom 1 upstairs is a large double, with a nice modern bath room ensuite. Bedroom 2 upstairs is a small double, but there is room to put a camp bed in here if necessary. Bedroom 3 is downstairs and is a twin. Bedroom 4 a large double. |
| Bathrooms: | Ensuite bathroom is a lovely bright room and has a his and hers basin, bath with shower unit and toilet. Shower room downstairs - modern shower and basin with separate toilet. Poolhouse has modern shower, basin and toilet, but is mainly for pool use. |
| Kitchen: | A modern style kitchen with french windows, oak worktops and a large kitchen table. A halogen hob and electric oven provides excellent cooking facilities. A full size fridge with top freezer section allows plenty of storage along with a walk in larder. |
| Living Rooms: | The good size lounge with french windows front and back with lovely views to the garden. A large leather sofa and single chairs provide plenty of comfortable seating around a large open fire. A large screen television with satellite TV and radio. |

All towels and linens are provided. Two week stays can have optional towel and linen change plus cleaning by arrangement. |

Notes on accommodation
The house has storage heaters in each room which can be turned on individually, but if it is chilly in the evenings the open fire can be lit. There are logs and starting sticks in the wood store.
Children are welcome at the property but due to the presence of a stream, and pond in the garden and an un-fenced pool it is not suitable for very young children (toddlers).
Accessibility
The front door is not accessible with a wheel chair due to a step, but access would be possible from the kitchen door. The kitchen has steps up into the main living area which would make it difficult for disabled access. It has not been specifically designed for disabled access.
Outside
There is a private 10 x 5 metre pool with terrace and own pool-house for changing, loo and showering. Plenty of shade under trees for reading, and we get the sun first thing in the morning right through to the evening. A meandering path winds its way through the grounds where you can stop and sit under the shade of the large walnut or rustling poplar trees.
The garden has a variety of native trees and is a great place to explore with its own stream and pond and lots of wild life and wild flowers.
The gamesroom in the double garage has table tennis and darts, which will keep adults and children amused for hours.
Two bicycles are also available for use.
Travel
Flying. Nearest airport is Bergerac. Fly to Bergerac from Birmingham, Luton, Stansted, Southampton East Midlands in the season.
Bordeaux is 2 hours away and Limoges is also poplar.
Driving from Calais takes 12 hours if you make a trip of the journey, or 9 hours if driving over night.
St Malo is closer and a days drive the west of the country via Bordeaux.
Distances
Allow half an hour to Bergerac, 2 hours to Bordeaux and 3 to Toulouse. 2 hours to Limoges.

About the owner
Phil and Kathryn own the property at St Alvere as our only other home and we like to keep it special for when we want to use it. Like most house-proud people, we just need other like minded people to help us pay its upkeep.
We just love the peace and tranquility that France brings, away from the madding crowd in our normal working lives in the UK.

A little piece of France which seems to hark back to our childhood of quiet roads and pleasant people, who all seem to have time to chat and enjoy life.
Unique benefits of the property
We thought we would be bored coming back to the same place every year. 4 years in and we have never been so content on holiday in St Alvere. I did not want to come home last week.
