Enjoying extensive mountain views all around, the gite is situated on the end of our 19th century farmhouse with its own private terrace and sits in 1.5 acres of ground away from the road. There is a heated pool for the summer months and a six person hot tub next to your terrace. We are close to the village of St Marie de Campan with its shop and bar. Although the gite is very well equipped for self catering there are also two hotel restaurants nearby for evening meals should you choose to eat out. The spa town of Bagneres de Bigorre is 10 minutes away with extensive bars and restaurants. A 10 minute drive in the opposite direction is the famous Pic du Midi observatory with the visitor centre and bar/restaurant accessed by cable car from the ski resort of la Mongie summer and winter, well worth a visit for the views alone. Cyclists and Motorcyclists love our location between the 2 cols, Col D`Aspin and the mighty Col de Tourmalet with relaxing facilities on their return to enjoy.

Changeover day
Preferred changeover day Saturday but this may be flexible. Arrival time 4pm and departure time 10am.

Notes on accommodation
Central heating is provided in winter months with an independent heater in the gite. Sorry,suitable for children under 5yrs old only,high chair, cot and buggy provided on request (no extra charge). Towels and linen are included and the gite cleaned at each changeover although clients are expected to leave the accommodation in a clean and tidy state. We provide basics such as washing up liquid and plenty of cleaning products,one kitchen roll,foil wrap,film wrap, cooking oil, salt,sugar,spices.liquid soap,one toilet roll and hand/face cream to each WC/bathroom, tissues in bedroom. We also provide a small welcome pack ie milk, biscuits or cake, fresh bread, spread, jam, fruit, few tea bags, coffee, wine etc,(champagne at Christmas & New Year).
Outside
Full use of garden, tree swing,timber heated pool 7 x 4m,in summer months,June weather permitting and at owners discretion, July & August,hot tub, patio furniture, sun loungers etc.

Coast/Beach
We are situated in the middle of the high Pyrenees, approximately 2 hours from Biaritz and the Atlantic and 3.5 hours from Perpignan and the Mediterranean by car.
Golf
Golf course 15 minute drive in Bagneres de Bigorre, but others not too far away. We are not golfers but we are told the local course is very good with excellent mountain views between shots.
Skiing
Just a 10 minute drive from here the Domaine Tourmalet is the biggest ski area in the Pyrenees and includes la Mongie and Bareges offers 100km of piste, 43 ski lifts, 69 pistes, 6 black, 21 red, 19 blue, 23 green.
Many snow boarders and skiers in addition to piste skiing also enjoy off piste skiing and the extensive snow park. Should you prefer there is a service bus to and from the resort and the bus stop is about 100 metres away.
Travel
Lourdes 35 minutes. Pau 1 hr 20 minutes. Biaritz 1 hr 50 minutes. Carcassonne 2hrs 50 minutes. Ferry Ports - Santander and Bilbao 180km.

Nearest village St Marie de Campan 2km. Nearest town Bagneres de Bigorre 17km. Lourdes (holy shrine) 40 mins by car.

Abbey and monastery about 30 minute drive.
Bagneres de Bigorre 15 mins drive with banks, supermarkets, restaurants, shops, Saturday market, Aquesis spa and fitness centre with gym, pool, treatments, massage etc.
Cash machines are at Campan village 10 mins drive or La Mongie also 10 min drive.

About the owner
Our names are Barry Anderson and Jacqueline Sanders (Barry and Jackie). We moved to the Pyrenees three years ago having decided that we would like to do something a little different.

Why the owner chose a guest house in this location
We live in a 19th century farmhouse at a height of 900 metres.
Being keen skiers and walkers the decision to move to the Pyrenees was easy enough bearing in mind our love of the mountains and year round activities not to mention the very agreeable climate (hot summers, snowy sunny winters) with clear starry nights.
We chose to actually live in the mountains rather than a distance away from them for those reasons.
With reasonably inexpensive flights which take 1.5 hours it is also easy to visit family and friends, so ease of access without traveling too far or for too long was important.
Unique benefits of the property
Having 100 km of skiing just 10 minutes away and a hot tub to relax in on your return,it was important to us not to have to travel too far to ski and to be able to sooth the aching limbs at the end of the day.
We have mountain views all around the gite, flowers in spring, and the autumn colours are a sight to behold on the hillside in the setting of the beautiful Campan valley.
We have a trout river just across the field and extensive walking all around this area, where you would be unlucky not to see some local wildlife including the odd deer, red squirrel and red kite etc.
In summer here we have a heated pool for you to enjoy either after a day out or all day should you choose to stay here and do nothing but relax and have alfresco dining on your private terrace.
