A 5-minute walk from the Canal des Deux Mers with its cycling track (free use of bikes), an independent flat in a beautiful 18th century house with a 2 800sq.m garden with sun house and orchard (peaches, figs, plums, etc). Near the Landes forest, the Garonne valley and the prestigious wine estates of Sauternes and Graves. Close to picturesque medieval villages, bastides and castles dating back to the Middle Ages. Colourful markets, fabulous gastronomy, a multitude of sporting activities at hand. Magical festivals and village festivities during the summer months (Nuits Atypiques in Langon), the 24 Hours of Swing in Monségur, Medieval festivals etc). Tranquility and charm for an unforgettable holiday, discovering the authentic French patrimony. A bottle of Sainte Croix wine and home-made jam offered on arrival!

The weekly changeover is on Saturday but we can be flexible. Arrival after 2 pm, departure before 11 am.

As from 3 September we offer a 3-course regional meal on arrival, wine included! We also offer a guided tour of a Sainte Croix du Mont wine estate (Sauternes style sweet white wine and red Graves) with wine-tasting. And during the harvest you can enjoy the ambience with the grape-pickers!

We have a local village store 2 minutes away which sells almost everything! In Langon or La Reole (10 km) there are all shops, supermarkets, discount supermarkets, health food shops, etc. Many wonderful, colourful markets for fresh produce (which you can also buy directly from farms). Excellent local gastronomy with a long list of recommended restaurants. Ideal for cycling, horse-riding, canoeing, exploring medieval villages and bastides, participating in local festivities or simply relaxing in a region which is internationally renowned for its superb wines.
Booking notes
Your booking will be confirmed on receipt of a 30% deposit and the balance is payable 6 weeks prior to your arrival date (apart from last-minute bookings). A refundable deposit of 150€ is payable on arrival.

There is a feeling of tranquillity and space in the grounds of the gite situated in in the heart of the friendly village of Castillon-de- Castets. Laure and Jean-Paul are both mines of information on a wide range of local restaurants, places of interest , open-air activities, vineyards and winegrowing. Very well equipped accommodation in a tranquil, rural setting. Friendly, helpful owners with exceptional local knowledge. Perfectly positioned for exploring this hidden gem of rural France. I am a training co-coordinator and my husband, Jean-Paul is a wine producer. We have 18 year old twins, Lily and Percy. We opened our gite in summer 2009 and are delighted, having met some amazingly lovely people.

Why the owner chose a home in this location
We are in a small, peaceful and very friendly village, right by the Canal du Midi for evening walks or bike rides. Our house is full of character and we love lazing in the hammocks in our large garden and are still discovering local beauty spots.
