Perrot Cottage is located in the heart of the Perigord Noir, the most rural part of the Dordogne, a detached cottage beside a restored and elegant Perigordian farmhouse. The cottage is fully fitted with all necessary equipment and is provided with comfortable and antique furniture. The pretty, private terrace and garden are perfect for outdoor dining and relaxation. The large swimming pool faces south with garden furniture for secluded sunbathing. The property is set on gently rising ground in the midst of fields and woods at the end of a long private drive. There is no traffic to disturb the peace. A stream runs through the valley and there are wonderful walks in all directions. This is a farming area owned by old French families. To wake up to the sounds of the countryside with no intrusive noises is indeed a pleasure.

Changeover day
Generally changeover day will be Saturday, but at times this
can be more flexible. Rental periods start at 4pm and finish at 10am.

Bedrooms: Bedroom 1 large elegant and beamed with a double bed and antique bedside tables, chest of drawers, dressing table, linen press and hanging rail.
Bedroom 2 twin beds, beamed room with chest, bedside tables etc.

Bathrooms: Bathroom with bath/shower over, wash basin, WC, fitted heater and towel rail.
Kitchen: The kitchen is fitted with an electric oven, gas hob, microwave/convector oven, large refrigerator/freezer, dishwasher, ironing board and iron. Very well equipped with worktops and cupboards. Washing machine in laundry room under main house.
Utility Room: Washing machine and tumble dryer and cleaning equipment.
Living Rooms: The pretty beamed sitting room with door to terrace, has a sofa and two easy chairs as well as dining table and chairs. TV, DVD player and CD player are provided. There is a wood-burning stove for which wood is available.
Cleaning/towels/
linen/maid service:
Towels, with the exception of pool towels, are provided. All bed linen is included and is changed each week. The property is cleaned each week but if desired maid service can be provided more regularly at an extra charge.

Notes on accommodation
The pool is only shared with the owners of the property who use the pool for a short time each day and occasional guests, leaving the area for guests to swim and sunbathe. An outdoor table tennis table and boules and garden furniture, are in the cottage garden. Reclining furniture is also around the pool for sunbathing and relaxation.

This is a wonderful place for children with plenty of outdoor space for games and running about. Board games are provided and plenty of books. The house would not be suitable for toddlers due to the circular staircase, this also applies to the elderly and infirm if they wish to use the upstairs bedrooms. The master bedroom downstairs would cause no problem and the bathroom and door to the terrace are easily accessible. The house remains cool inside all the time but fans are provided if needed. A wood burning stove is installed for use in the autumn and winter months and wood is available all the year round.

Accessibility
As stated above, the ground floor presents no problems but
there are two steps down into the bathroom which would
be difficult for a wheelchair user.

Outside
Perrot is surrounded by gardens and the cottage has its own private garden which has a barbecue with table and chairs on the terrace with a large umbrella giving shade and protection. Garden chaise lounges are provided. Pots of geraniums give colour to the terrace. Outlook is over pretty, old barns covered with vines and a rose garden. The swimming pool measures 10x4m and is only shared with the owners who use it briefly once a day, and the area is otherwise for the exclusive use of guests, including two tables one with a very large umbrella giving shade and a smaller one at the garden end of the pool. Again, reclining chairs etc are provided. The pool looks out over the owner's landscaped garden with lake and further over the wooded hills and fields. The situation of the pool is a particular feature
of the property being inside the walls of an old barn which give protection and are covered with vines and roses. This area has a southerly aspect. The pool has a fence for safety.

Coast/Beach
Arcachon on the Atlantic coast is 160km away. Narbonne on the Meditteranean coast is approximately 300km away.

Golf
Chateau des Merles with a 9 hole course is 10km away. Chateau les Vigiers is about 30km away, 18 hole course.

Travel
Bergerac airport is 16km way and Bordeaux airport is about 120km away. Calais is 850km distant and Caen is 720km. Car hire is available at Bergerac and Bordeaux airports and a car is essential in this area.

St. Marcel du Perigord is 3km away. Lalinde is 8km distant. Bergerac is18km away. Sarlat is 74km. Perigueux is 48km distant.

Booking notes
To reserve the property a 25% deposit is due of the total rent. Completed booking form must be returned at the same time. The balance of the rent is due not less than eight weeks before start of rental. Reservations made within 8 weeks of the start of the rental period require full payment at the time of booking. A security deposit of £200 is required in case of damage/misuse of the property or contents.

About the owner
My husband and I live at Domaine Perrot all the year and moved here two years ago from England. We are both retired and thoroughly enjoy the peace and quiet of this beautiful area. We have restored our property and spent much time and energy on making the surrounding gardens and barns attractive. Our home is a very typical Dordogne farmhouse built round a courtyard. There is much to enjoy about life in the Dordogne and we hope you will wish to stay here!

Why the owner chose a home in this location
Peace, beauty, lack of crowds, quiet roads, pleasant and friendly French and English people around. Lack of stress. Beautiful old houses and chateaux, rivers and views. Bastide towns to visit. Ease of access via Bergerac Airport and having the south coast of France and Spain within easy reach.

Unique benefits of the property
The property is within easy access of many places and the cottage is well laid out in terms of accommodation, making for a comfortable and easy stay. There is an 'away from it all' feeling about Perrot which is apparent when one turns off the lane into the long, private drive with the property at the end. However, Lalinde is nearby for all general needs and having so many pretty little villages and towns within easy reach is a joy. There is so much on offer for guests to enjoy in the area.
