Villa Eleanor is a beautiful 5 bedroom, detached villa with 3 bathrooms plus a downstairs cloakroom. The villa has it's own floodlit 10 x 5m pool with Roman steps set in a large private enclosed garden. There is a shady decked area by the pool with table and chairs, a hammock under the Eucalyptus trees and a large covered terrace with dining area and built in BBQ. The villa is situated in a very peaceful location in the foothills of the Pyrenees close to the beautiful historic village of Castelnou and 5 minutes drive to the lovely market town of Thuir with an abundance of shops, cafes and restaurants. The house is equipped with TV, PlayStation, DVD, VCR and CD player along with a selection of videos, DVDs and CDS. There is unlimited free Wi-Fi access. Two mountain bikes are available and there is a games area with pool table and dart board. There is also a selection of children's toys along with inflatable pool toys. All linen and towels (except beach towels) are provided.

Notes on prices
Prices are for the property per week in UK pounds. Low season price is £750 per week for up to 6 people then an extra £50 per person per week. Fuel is included in high season. Out of season it is charged by meter readings.
Changeover day
Our changeover day in high season is Sunday at 4pm because flights tend to be cheaper then but we can be flexible out of season.

Notes on accommodation
There are heaters in every room if required and there is a real flame calor gas fire in the lounge for out of season visitors.
Outside
There is a private floodlit 10 x 5m pool contained within a large garden mainly laid to lawn, with some Eucalyptus trees which make a great shady place to hang the hammock. A large patio surrounds one end of the pool where the sun beds are arranged to allow sun worshippers to bask to their hearts content. The sun shines on here from morning to early evening. There is a large shaded decked are next to the patio with a table and chairs. A chain of small solar powered lanterns which turn on automatically at night surround this abris. The covered area next to the house has a huge picnic style table which can comfortably seat 12. This table overlooks the pool and most guests tend to eat all their meals here, then sit and chat till the wee small hours. A thermometer displays both outside and pool temperature here.
Coast/Beach
The closest beach is about a 25 minutes away at either St Cyprien or Argeles. We tend to go to Saint-Cyprien-Plage for shops ice creams etc but go a mile or two north of there on the D81A. You can park at the side of the road and walk through the sand dunes onto miles of beach which is seldom busy. On the other side of the road is a nature reserve which you can walk round.
Golf
There are several excellent golf courses only a short drive from the house.
Skiing
The ski resorts of Font Romeu, Les Angles and Formigeres are just over an hour away. The villa is in an excellent location if you have a mixed group of skiers/non skiers.
Travel
The nearest airport is Perpignan which is only 20 min away. Girona is an easy 1 hour drive away. Carcassonne and Beziers are a similar distance with Montpellier just a little further. Driving from the UK is obviously quite a hike but does give you the chance to see the fantastic Milau bridge just to the North.
Further details
Thuir has all the facilities you could need including banks, ATMs, excellent restaurants - try the lunch time 'plat du Jour'. Delicatessens, bread shops, cafes, post office, supermarkets and splendid Saturday market.

We ask for 25% with booking and the balance 8 weeks prior to departure. We do offer mid week/short breaks out of season please get in touch for details.
Guest comments
We have been staying in various French houses for over ten years now and have only been back to one other, and yours was definitely our favorite. We had as close to a perfect holiday as I think you can get. No-one wanted to come home!. We were so pleased with the house, it was such a lovely garden too. With two teenage daughters and a friend each it was really perfect for either all being together or having chill out time.
Had a fantastic time at the house. It really is superb. Very comfortable with all amenities. Kids wanted to move in permanently! BBQ was superb - better than my 'fake' gas one at home.
Had a great week, pool and villa brilliant. Area here is just wonderful – Castelnou is lovely. Thuir is typically French and Can Marty a great restaurant. The table outside the villa was great for all of us to sit round and enjoy our BBQ and good company – Makes for a great holiday.
Great place for a family holiday with everything one needs - personally I liked the hammock.
