The beautiful Alabaster Coast west of Dieppe is well worth exploring, the nearest beach being only a 30 minute drive away at Pourville-sur-Mer. This coast inspired Monet and other Impressionist artists and various heritage trails can be followed.

Le Château du Vaudichon golf course just outside Saint-Saëns is 10 minutes away by car. It welcomes visitors and is set in a magnificent location overlooking the forest. It has a variety of holes to test players of all levels and the clubhouse is in a 19th century château. Inexpensive meals are served every lunchtime and evening.

Further details
Walking/cycling/horse-riding - with direct access to the Forêt d’Eawy, you can enjoy many walks, bicycle rides and pony-trekking on clearly-marked paths. You could also cycle or walk along the Avenue Verte, which goes along the old railway track between Dieppe and Forges-les-Eaux. Bicycles can be borrowed and Kath and John will be glad to help you plan your route.

Sightseeing - the town of Dieppe is a pleasant place to visit, with its huge range of restaurants, its château and interesting shops. Rouen is not to be missed. The old quarter with its magnificent cathedral has been beautifully restored.
There are many pretty gardens open to the public eg Jardins de Bellevue in Beaumont-le-Hareng (15 minutes). The site of the World War Two V1 at the Val Ygot is 10 minutes away. A little further afield, the Seine Valley, with its spectacular scenery, beautiful abbeys and Monet’s house and gardens at Giverny, makes for a wonderful day out.

Markets - are always a treat in France. Why not spend a leisurely morning browsing the stalls, or spend an hour or two watching the spectacle from a pavement café? Most of the local towns have markets on different days, so there will always be one within easy reach, including the largest market in Normandy at Dieppe every Saturday.

Eating out - although there is no restaurant in Saint-Hellier, varied menus are available at the Golf Club (open lunch-time and evening every day) or in Saint-Saëns itself. Kath and John would be pleased to reserve you a table at one of these or at one of the many other excellent restaurants in the area.

Booking notes
Deposit of £20 (by cheque) should be forwarded to secure booking. The cheque will be returned to you at the end of your stay when payment should be made in euros (French bank account cheque or cash). If you do not honour your booking the cheque will be deposited in an English bank account.
