Only a half hours drive from the picturesque town of La Rochelle, Logis de Tertre is the ideal base to explore both the Atlantic Coast and the countryside of Poitou Charente, There are numerous attractions - old and new -to suit all tastes and ages and make your holiday a really enjoyable time. Renovated from an old farm workers cottage and grain store 'Le Bronwain' is a spacious gite with the advantage of having one of the bedrooms with en-suite bathroom on the ground floor: Lounge/Dining: 2 settees, 2 armchairs, dining table and 8 chairs, sideboard, book rack and occasional tables with lamps. Kitchen: Fitted cupboards with cooker, microwave, washing machine, dishwasher, fridge/freezer, kettle, toaster, iron, ironing board, drying rack. Bedroom 1: French style double bed, bedside tables and lamps, wardrobe. Bedroom 2: Two single beds, bedside table and lamp, wardrobe. Bedroom 3: two single beds, bedside table and lamp, chair, and large French style wardrobe. Bedroom 4: Ground floor: Double bed, bedside tables and lamps, french style wardrobe, chair. Original fireplace. Bathroom 1: Bath, separate shower with thermostatic control, wash hand basin. Separate WC. Bathroom 2: Ground floor: Wet room style shower with thermostatic control, wash hand basin and WC. |

Notes on accommodation
All rooms are fitted with electric convectors the use of which is subject to a supplementary charge. CD and DVD player provided.
Cots, highchairs, changing mats and baby baths available F.O.C. on request.
Bed linen can be hired (except cot linen). No towels are provided except tea towels.
Accessibility
'Le Bronwain' with its ground floor bedroom and shower room has been provided with extra wide door openings, a 'walk-in' shower, and extra height WC pan. Externally the barbecue eating area has a gravel finish and some assistance may be required with the wheelchair. Access to the swimming pool is over a grassed area. Access to the pool itself is via 'Roman' steps (no hoist is available).
Outside
Both gites overlook a large one acre grassed field which is ideal for ball games etc and are close to the 10 x 5 m swimming pool complete with loungers, parasols and chairs. The pool is fenced and gated to comply with current French regulations.
Other facilities available include: Boules area, children's swing and slide, outdoor tables and chairs, parasols, barbecues, table tennis table, board games.
Coast/Beach
Only a 30 minute drive to the Atlantic beaches at La Rochelle (Minimes), Chatellailon Plage, Fouras and the islands of Ile de Re and Ile d'Oleron. Further south towards Royan are the long beaches with pine forests and sand dunes of the Cote Sauvage. To the north are the long sandy beaches of the Vendee.
Golf
There are several golf courses in Poitou-Charentes but the closest are at Niort 15 Km and La Rochelle 25Km.
Travel
A car is essential.
Ferry:- 4 hours drive from from St Malo; 5 hours from Caen;6 hors from Cherbourg and Le Havre; 8 hours from Calais.
Flying:- From Stansted, Birmingham, Southampton and Bristol with Ryanair, Flybe and/or Easyjet to La Rochelle. Also flights to Poitiers with Ryanair from Stansted. Car hire facilities are available at the airports.
Train:-Eurostar from Paris to La Rochelle via Poitiers. A stop can be made at Surgeres (subject to timetable) which is 20 minutes away.
Distances
Logis de Tertre is a five minute drive from Mauze sur Le Mignon which has a good Intermarche supermarket and many other shops. The nearest large town is Niort (about 20 minutes by car)where you will find Leclerc, Carrefour and Geant hypermarkets.
La Rochelle is a 30 minute drive away.
Further details
We are situated on the southern edge of the famous 'Marais Poitevin' or 'Venise Vert' which is a superb location for birdwatching and fishing. The whole Marais area is a delight of pretty canalside villages and walks.
The gites are located 3km from Mauze sur Le Mignon where there is an excellent Intermarche supermarket, and also boulangeries and other shops including banks in the high street. Major hypermarkets can be found in La Rochelle and Niort.
There are several traditional French cuisine restaurants in nearby villages within easy reach by car.
The area generally has numerous tourist attractions to suit all tastes and ages. The 'jewel' is La Rochelle with its beautiful harbour and pedestrianised streets full of bistros and restaurants.
Other historic towns worth visiting include Cognac, Saintes, Rochefort and Poitiers. There is a superb aquarium and a Maritime Museum at La Rochelle, and an excellent zoo at La Palmyre near Royan.

All bookings are subject to a 25% deposit payable at the time of booking with the balance payable 8 weeks before arrival. A refundable damage deposit of £100 is also required. On-line booking facility available via our web site.
