The farmhouse and separate apartment (to the rear) have been completely refurbished to a very high standard are peaceful and quiet and yet just a 2 minute walk from the shops, restaurants, bars and 2 cable cars of Les Houches village. Both units have free unlimited wifi internet access and free to view satellite TV. Being located in the Chamonix valley, there is a vast array of local amenities all year-round.

For smaller groups who enjoy space and comfort, why not book the farmhouse? You don't have to be a large group to enjoy the space of the 2 salons, the 3 new bathrooms and the large garden!
Changeover day
Bookings run from 4pm on Saturday until 10am on the following Saturday. However, midweek changeovers are considered in certain seasons - please ask.

Located to rear of the farmhouse with its own private entrance. Large open-plan salon with a fully-fitted kitchen containing: microwave oven, cooker, fridge/freezer, sink/draining board. This room also has a dining area with a dining table plus seating for 4 + a sofa, TV with free to view satellite channels and a DVD player plus wifi internet access. To one side of the room is an adult-sized bunk bed (sleeps 2). Separate bedroom with a double bed, large wardrobe and bed side tables. Separate bathroom with a shower, WC and sink. Notes on accommodation
The farmhouse and apartments of the Alpine Retreat are decorated to a very high standard throughout. Despite having bed spaces for up to 10, the main farmhouse/chalet should be considered by smaller groups who would like to enjoy the comfort and space provided by this unit. Also, it is possible to book the 2 apartments and use the smaller apartment as a private 'en-suite' bedroom with the group all eating together in the larger apartment. All of the accommodation is suitable for families and our feedback suggests that it is offered at a very competative price. Heating and all linen is provided.
Outside
The Alpine Retreat has a large, enclosed, private garden that is safe for all to wander. A table and chairs allow visitors to enjoy the most spectacular views of the Mont Blanc mountain range without having to leave the comfort of their garden chairs. You can take breakfast in the garden or enjoy a BBQ in the evening. A gazebo makes it possible to enjoy the shade when it is too hot.
Coast/Beach
Local lakes provide ample opportunities for swimming in the summer. Several of the lakes have artificial beaches (sand covered areas) along part of their length.
Golf
Chamonix has an 18-hole course set amongst the magnificent surroundings of the Chamonix valley.
Skiing
The Alpine Retreat is located next to the pistes of Les Houches - a family resort with skiing to suit every level of skier. Les Houches although less well known than its neighbouring Chamonix has over 22 runs making miles of pistes. The men's downhill world cup race is held here each year on the red/black run that runs past the end of the garden. The 2 cable car stations which give access to the extensive local skiing are located less than a 5-minute walk away. Over 100 snow canons in the resort make skiing back to the village/farmhouse a reality throughout the season.
Travel
Most of our guests either fly to Geneva airport (Easyjet) which is less than an hour's drive from the Alpine Retreat or drive from the UK (8 hours plus from the French ferry ports). Other airports include: Lyon (2 hours), and Turin (1 3/4 hours) drive. We can arrange transfers from Geneva airport if required.
Distances
We are located within the village of Les Houches and so are only a 2-minute walk from shops, restaurants and bars.
The Alpine capital of Chamonix is less than a 10-minute drive away. Regular local buses and trains also provide access to Chamonix and many of the other nearby local towns. For a taste of Italy, why not use the Mont Blanc tunnel; in less than half an hour you can be enjoying a pizza in the Italian town of Courmeyer.
Further details
In the Chamonix valley, the whole concept of easy access to the mountains is born out in reality with trains, tramways and a host of superbly efficient cable cars which whisk you up to the hundreds of well-marked walking/biking trails. It is also easy to visit one of the many glaciers or to get a taste of river-rafting, canyoning or even paragliding or perhaps even to visit one of the many animal parks. Additionally, several activity centres offer everything from tennis to swimming and ice-skating to golf. Both Les Houches and Chamonix have a wide range of restaurants and bars which offer cuisine and entertainment to cater for every taste.
