Accessibility
Ground floor bedroom in main house with direct access to garden with downstairs bathroom and WC.
Outside
The larger of the 2 gardens leads down to a small stream at the bottom in which you can try your hand at fishing. Or if thats to much hard work, relax in the hammock swung between two trees with a book at hand and a drink of your choice.
The large trees offer nice shade in the heat of the summer sun. Garden table and chairs are provided for your comfort to sample the BBQ in the warm evening or for an aperitif before you wander down to the local restaurant for some typical French fare.
The view from the appartment balcony is best in the morning when you can feel the sunshine on your face when drinking your 1st coffee or tea of the day with a croissant cooked fresh that morning from the bakers which is across the street from the house.
Coast/Beach
The Great Dune At Pyla, near Arcachon, is one of the greatest national sites. This 2.7km-long dune, the highest in Europe (117m), is shifting a lot. In winter, depending on storms, it moves back from 3 to 10 meters.
You have got to climb the dune but do it before lunch. The golden sand contrasts with the sky blue ocean and the fragrant green pine forest. You can also see Cap Ferret, the passes of the Arcachon Basin and the ornithological reserve Arguin Sandbank.
Golf
There are six golf courses within 40 minutes driving, from the house. Included a driving range, 9 & 18 hole courses, all take day members.
Travel
Bergerac-Roumanière airport is 35 mins away.
Angouleme airport 50 mins away.
Bordeaux airport 1 hour away.
There is a train station in Mussidan.
The house is situated 3 km (1 single road) from Junction 13 on the A89 motorway.
Distances
The house is a 5 min stroll to the town with bars, shops and restaurants which have menus starting at 12.50 euros.
There is a public swimming pool which is open in the summer months with a small skateboard park.
Sarlat is a beautiful place 1 hour away with stunning architecture, wonderful restaurants and a huge market on Saturday.
St Emilion takes about an hour on the motorway. The town is beautiful with lots of mediaeval architecture, lovely restaurants and wine glorious wine.
Further details
Canoeing is available on the river Ilse which is only a small walk through the town.
Fishing in a trout lake is only 15 min drive.
The Manoir de Longeveau has an attractive 9 hole Golf course (approx 40 mins) and there is an 18 hole public course at Perigueux (approx 30 mins).
Le Grand Étang De La Jemaye is approx 20 mins away.The lake is set in the middle of the Double forest and offers a lake beach with real sand !!! the water is clear and ideal for swimming, large children’s play area, restaurants, showers and a snack bar. There is a floating platform offshore for swimming to and diving off, pedaloes are available to hire and there are picnic tables all around the site. They also have the ever popular baywatch !! life guards They have activities for the kids to do and a bird watching platform at the end of the walk. La Jemaye is popular all year round and is truly stunning and very well done. If you are up to it believe it or not there is a discotheque at the lake in the evenings or you can just go swimming.
Bergerac town is 20 mins away. This lovely wine centre is placed on the Dordogne river and surrounded by vineyards offering tasting and sales. Markets are on Tuesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday and there is lots to do in this bustling town. The old town is stunning with bars, restaurants and lots of shops to keep you busy.

Please see calendar or check the availability with the owners by phone or email. A deposit of 25% will secure a booking, and a statement will be sent showing the balance outstanding. The remaining balance must be paid in full 8 weeks before arrival. If less than 8 weeks remain before arrival, then the full rate is payable at the outset. Damage deposit £300, at time of balance. Returned if no damage, 1 week after leaving.
