This stunning converted Farmhouse set in the countryside near the Pyrenees with easy access to the coast and beaches of Biarritz and the South West Coast provides comfort and enjoyment for everyone. Ideal for large groups the farmhouse has a beautiful galleried hall and revolving wood burner, with a spacious family kitchen. The property has a private swimming pool and barbeque area within its grounds with plenty of space for children to play in a safe environment. There are 7 bedrooms with 6 bathrooms ensuring plenty of space for everyone, with no queuing for a bathroom! One of the bedrooms is on the ground floor and is set in a self-contained apartment with lounge and kitchen area. This apartment can be rented completely separately from the rest of the house if required. There are many activities that can be undertaken in the area such as horse riding, sailing, water sports, fishing, golf and trekking.

Notes on accommodation
The property has shutters on all the windows so the building remains cool even in mid Summer. In the winter the heating system is extremely effective. There are many facilities for babies and young children e.g. travel cots, highchairs, pushchair. The swimming pool has a secure cover which must be in place when not in use.
Accessibility
The ground floor is suitable for wheelchair users and people with mobility problems - there are hand rails at relevant places for ease of access. Bedroom 7 can be booked as a separate apartment to the rest of the house for anyone who requires privacy and has a kitchen area with cooker, microwave and fridge as well as a shower room and separate toilet. There are french doors out to the garden and swimming pool.
Outside
Private swimming pool (13m x 6m) with patio area and barbeque. Plenty of chairs and sun loungers around the pool and in the garden. Lawned areas for ball games.
Coast/Beach
The nearest beaches are found along the Southwest coast and include Biarritz. Biarritz is 28 miles away and takes approximately 45 minutes to reach. Also nearby are surfing beaches. The River Oloron is very close by for swimming and fishing.

We require a 50% deposit at the time of booking to confirm your reservation. Full payment is required 8 weeks prior to arrival, or if the booking is made within this period full payment is required at the time of booking. A refundable deposit is also required for breakages and repairs. This will be transferred back to you once the property has been checked after your departure.

About the owner
We bought La Maisounabe 4 years ago when it was in a very bad state of disrepair - after a huge amount of work through various building disasters and weather conditions varying from hurricanes to heatwaves we now have a fantastic 7 bedroom property. You will find some photos of the original building in the kitchen to see how much blood, sweat and tears have gone in to the conversion of farmhouse and cowbarn.
As a family we have had some wonderful holidays here already and are enjoying exploring the area each time we stay. Within walking distance there is a wonderful river to dip in to, and next to it a fantastic restaurant with a very good value menu du jour!
The swimming pool entertains the children all day and we even have Cbeebies for emergencies!

Why the owner chose a home in this location
La Maisounabe was discovered on a cycling holiday in France - spotted in an estate agent's window and it was love at first sight!
The countryside of the surrounding area and the small village of Labastide-Villefranche with its truly great French character first attracted us to this part of France. With Salies de Bearn nearby and a fairly short journey from Biarritz or Pau Airport it is an ideal location for 'getting away from it all'. Within 5 hours door to door if flying from Gatwick and living in the South East you can escape the rat race and join the wonderful slow pace of Southern France - the benefits are instantaneous.
Unique benefits of the property
The great thing about La Maisounabe is the size and the layout of the rooms. So even if there is a large group of you, you are not all on top of each other - there are no queues for the bathrooms - as there are a total of 6 bathrooms to the 7 bedrooms as well as separate toilets.
While the children can have tea in the kitchen, the grandeur of the Hall is ideal for large gatherings for lunch or dinner. Alternatively you can have a barbecue every evening and there is even a hostess trolley to get all your dishes out to the barbecue area!
Make sure you nominate one of your party to head for the bakery in Labastide-Villefranche at about 7am to ensure you can buy your freshly baked croissants and pain au chocolat. There is a very handy general food store as well for emergency supplies.
