This pretty, recently renovated farmhouse cottage lies on a peaceful hillside where you can relax and enjoy the lovely views. Situated off the beaten track, close to the Dordogne and Vezere rivers and the beautiful historic town of Perigueux. The gite is a totally detached old farm house completely separate from the owners house, so you have lots of privacy! There are no other gite guests on the property and the pool is completely private. The owners house is on the extensive property so if you need help or assistance you will always have someone close-by to help. There are many wonderful restaurants in the area for you to discover. Bordeaux is within easy driving distance where you can explore the delights of the world famous wine region. Closest airport is 35 minutes away at Bergerac with daily flights to major cities.
Tennis, golf and horse back riding all within 10 minutes drive. Many caves and chateaux are just 20 minutes by car.

Changeover day
Normally Saturday to Saturday unless prior agreement (please feel free to ask). Please arrive after 4pm. Depart by 10am. All times can be flexible. We are very happy to work around your travel times.

Notes on accommodation
Free Wi-Fi available. We provide picnics hampers for days out with 24 hours notice. Picnic for final leaving day is also available. Canoe hire is available from the property, also tents/sleeping bags and camping equipment. Bicycles can be borrowed from us. We have access to a tennis court, please bring your rackets, if not we have some you can borrow. Please ask if you require any of these. All guests receive a welcome basket on arrival, including wine and our own fresh eggs. Please note the tower room has separate access only, but makes it a very quiet, secluded room.
Accessibility
The property is on a hillside, so access is limited. We have had guests with limited mobility stay with us several times. Please ask. All rooms are on one floor apart from the tower bedroom, there are just a couple of steps into the main bedroom and 2 steps up to the toilet.
Outside
The gite has a private garden with its own patio, wooden patio furniture, umbrella and Gas BBQ. There are sun loungers in the gite garden for you to relax on. Access to the property is by a private drive with shaded parking.
14.5 x 5m beautiful swimming pool, salt water filtration system (kinder on the skin than chlorine pools) newly installed with lovely, large, non-slip terrace with luxury sun loungers, umbrellas and whicker sofa set which seats up to 10 people. The pool has a hard electric safety cover, shallow end for small children and full sized roman steps for easy access. Pool suitable to dive in! 2m at deep end. We have 10 acres of woods and fields to explore. There are areas to sit and relax in the woods and gite garden with extra seating for picnics. Bambington/table tennis & 14ft trampoline are situated in the gardens for your use, also a great tree house if you are staying with children. Our animals can all be fed, held, played with and walked, feel free to ask!
Coast/Beach
Just over 2 hours drive away is the Atlantic Coast where there is the highest dune in Europe, La Dune de Pyla (117 meters high), close to the stunning Baie d'Arcachon, famous for their fantastic oysters! Shopping in Bordeaux is approx. 1hr 40 minutes by car.
Golf
There is an 18 hole golf course 10 minutes away.

Please enquire regarding painting courses, which we can arrange locally. Cookery classes are available from friends in Perigueux. Tennis court is available close by.

Bergerac Airport: 35 minutes by car or taxi. Ryan Air/Flybe/Transavia.
Bordeaux Airport: 1 hour 40 minutes (British Airways/Air France/Easyjet/BMI Baby.
Limoges Airport: 1 hour 45 minutes (Ryanair/Air France)
We are approx. 345 miles from St Malo and 500 miles from Calais and Boulogne. Please use the toll roads when driving in France or your journey will be very long! Small fees are charged for using this very well maintained motorway system.

About the owner
Dear future guests.
We are a family living in the Dordogne countryside. We have been living overseas in Asia and the Middle East and have recently moved permanently to France. After many years travelling and renting holiday homes ourselves, we hope we provide everything you will need for a very comfortable stay with us.

Why the owner chose a home in this location
After staying at a friends house for Easter in the Dordogne 9 years ago, we completely fell in love with the area! We then searched to buy a holiday home and used to visit every summer and enjoyed the cooler weather far from the very hot Middle East. We decided to move permanently and found this fantastic place! We are surrounded by friends who bought holiday homes in this area too, so we have great get togethers in the summer here in France. The gite is on the edge of the property and is a detached, wonderful stone cottage with it's own charm and character. It has separate access, patio and gardens stretching for acres and a fantastic view. The sunsets are amazing and you have completely uninterrupted views. If you love strawberries we are in the strawberry centre of the Dordogne!
Unique benefits of the property
We offer a fully detached gite, many others have rows of gites with other guests sitting in the same garden, here you have the privacy and peace of your own place. The pool is huge, well built with a shallow and deep end, very spacious patio where you can relax totally alone. The beds in the property are very comfortable and will give you a great nights rest.
The kitchen is fully equipped where you can cook a roast, prepare a great BBQ or bake a cake. When cooking, you can still be with the rest of your party as the area is fully integrated and has dual aspects. The gite garden is totally private and there are acres of rolling countryside to view and watch the sunset. After years of renting gites for our own large family, we hope we provide everything we think you will need and want!
