It has a private 11 x 5.5m heated swimming pool with corner steps in the shallow end (perfect for young children), a walled garden with orchard and a large terrace with views over the vineyards. Ideally situated for a tranquil holiday yet a few minutes drive to shops and within comfortable reach of lovely beaches and historic towns.

Changeover day
Changeover day: Saturday (flexible in low season). Guests are asked to vacate the property by 10am so the property can be ready for incoming guests by 4pm.

Notes on accommodation
Two fold up beds and 2 travel cots.
Outside
French windows lead from the sitting room to the south facing terrace (complete with teak patio furniture and a large barbecue). The private heated swimming pool is 11 x 5.5m and there is plenty of space to relax on loungers by the pool or have lunch in the covered, shady pool house. There is also a poolside toilet and a solar powered shower. The pool has an electronic sensor child alarm system. The corner steps in the pool's shallow end are ideal for young children. There is plenty of lawned space for children to play and a brand new swings and slide. The terrace is a lovely place to have evening meals sitting with a glass of wine overlooking the pool (which has underwater lighting); lamps illuminate the whole pool area at night. There is secure covered parking to the side of the house accessed by remotely operated electronic gates. The house is spacious enough to make it perfect for two or three families with children to share on holiday yet cosy enough for smaller groups.
Coast/Beach
The beautiful sandy beaches at Royan are only an hour's drive as is the old town of La Rochelle with its historic harbour and wonderful seafood restaurants.
Travel
The nearest airport is at Angouleme (40 minutes' drive away) Other close airports are Poitiers, La Rochelle and Bordeaux. Calais is appoximately 8 hours' drive to La Roumade. Guests would need a car at the property.
Distances
Segonzac, just 10 minutes' drive away, has restaurants and shops and a supermarket for all your holiday supplies. The riverside town of Cognac is only a 15 minutes' drive while historic Saintes is a further 30 minutes away. The walled capital of the Charente, the city of Angouleme is a 30 minute drive. Only 10 minutes' walk from the house is the small village of Ambleville with a shop / boulangerie.
Booking notes
A first instalment payment of 25% is required to secure booking. Balance to be payable 12 weeks before arrival. Damages deposit of £250 per booking required with the final payment, to be refunded within two weeks of your departure (subject to satisfactory property inspection).

A fantastic base for our holiday and the pictures really do not do it justice. A real home away from home with everything you need to keep the kids happy, lovely swimming pool and garden area. Set in wonderful rolling hills full of vines and next door you have a fantastic Cognac house with their amazing Pineau de Charantes.We all loved the kitchen which was the real hub of the house and made the most of the lovely terrace to eat al fresco as much as we could.
