For those of you who love the good things in life Villa Marguerite is just for you. Tastefully restored the theme is comfort and relaxation, either by the pool or on the shady terrace. There are 120 vineyards in the Bergerac region and of course the Perigord is home to duck and foie gras, so a good meal is never far away. For the more energetic, there are plenty of places to visit, prehistoric caves, medieval villages and bastide towns, night markets, festivals and sporting activities such as golf, canoeing, fishing and horse riding - something for everyone!

Outside
The private pool, available May - end September, with compulsory pool alarm, is situated in a beautiful large garden laid mainly to lawn with many fruit trees, shrubs and flowers. There is a shady gazebo with table and chairs, gas BBQ and sun loungers. At the front of the house is a large terrace with charcoal BBQ and eating area and a secluded area with table and chairs surrounded by Mediterranean trees and shrubs perfect for relaxing with a glass of the local rose wine.

Coast/Beach
2 hours drive to Atlantic Coast.

There is a beach at the lovely village of Limeuil on the River Dordogne 20 minutes drive through the hills with scenic views of the river on the way, well worth a visit!

There are also beaches and a bar/ restaurant at Lac de Neufont, 25 minutes drive through the hills and countryside North of Sauveboeuf near the pretty market town of Vergt.

Golf
There is a challenging 9 hole par 35 course at Chateau les Merles just 15 minutes by car from the house which also has a very good terrace bistro and restaurant. Golf La Marterie at St Felix de Reilhac is an 18 hole par 73 course of high standards with a challenging back 9 and this is 30 minutes drive.

For a real treat try the magnificent Chateau des Vigiers golf course which is 40 minutes drive from the house West of Bergerac Airport. This is a 27 hole par 71/72 course, built on 3 x 9 hole loops. Once again it has excellent restaurant facilities.

Travel
Bergerac airport is 25km distance and is serviced by Ryanair and Flybe. Car hire is available at the airport. From the Brittany Ferries port of Caen, it's an easy drive of about 7 hours almost all on motorways.

There is a station in Lalinde on the main Bordeaux-Sarlat line with connections to Paris from Bordeaux.

Further details
The local bastide town of Lalinde on the River Dordogne has bars, restaurants and a large supermarket and also the largest weekly market in the area every Thursday. The main local town of Bergerac has fine restaurants in the old quarter of the town near the river. Monbazillac, home of the luscious golden dessert wine and just 40 minutes drive is well worth a visit for the wine tasting at the chateau. Ror red wine lovers, you can make the beautiful old town of St Emilion in just over an hour away. At Les Ezyies 40km you have the prehistoric caves and origins of man. There are many medieval towns in the region such as Sarlat and Monpazier all with their summer night markets and festivals. For the more active minded, as well as golf, there is canoeing on the Dordogne and horse riding. Aqua Park Junior Land is 10 minutes from Bergerac, on the way to Bordeaux, between vineyards and the Dorgdogne river and 5km from Chateau de Montbazillac. There are four 1,000 square metre swimming pools with water slides and direct access to the river for canoeing activities. Mountain biking, beach volleyball, table tennis and archery are also available here along with jacuzzi, sauna and hammam. There are many pretty villages and bastide towns within a 30 minute drive of the house such as Montpazier, Limeuil, Issigeac, Cadouin, Eymet etc most with weekly night markets and Issigeac with its famous Sunday morning market. The 15 minute drive over the hills to Tremolat is a must for the fabulous view of the Dordogne River topped of by an indulgent meal in the gardens of Vielle Logis, a Relais Chateau hotel. Fishing. Lac de Neufont (Phone : 05.53.07.87.92) is just outside the small pretty town of Vergt about 20 kilometres North of Lalinde. It has a bistro and 2 sandy beaches too and day and half day tickets are available. Otherwise, the Lalinde canal and town lake are favourites for the locals, you will probably need a permit for these.

Booking notes
A deposit of 30% is required to confirm booking and the balance is due in full 6 weeks prior to arrival. If the booking is made 6 weeks or less before the arrival time, the full amount is payable. Please note that the deposit is non-refundable unless the property can be re-rented so holiday insurance is advised.
